The Institute was an absolute delight. I went there for meditation one Sunday morning and was greeted with some incredible practitioners who were very welcoming and kind if you need some respite and preparation for the long week ahead, this is a good place to start. 🪷🧘🏽♀️

Spent time with Vince of Dragon Pearl Sangha. Enjoyed it, definitely need more sessions to get a better understanding. Vince was intelligent, friendly, and funny. The other community members were pleasant and had interesting viewpoints as well. A brief introduction, some sitting meditation, and some direct pointing/zen riddle investigation with Vince. Defintely left with some things to contemplate. Free services with donations welcome.

The greatness of a community is how they treat alternative cultures and religions. Boise is very good to its Buddhist practitioners and ensures that the Boise Institute for Buddhist Studies stays strong with city and community support. I've been a member of this center for several years and am so impressed. It's lively and the founders are still deeply active. There's also a large number of different styles of practice to suit your taste. And even if you just want to learn to meditate, BIBS is the place to be.

If you are in the Boise area and wanting to learn more about Buddhism, this is a good place to start. They also host refuge recovery meetings. As a recovering alcoholic and addict I find that service terrific.
