I recently went in for a wash, deep condition, and a silk press. Spent $140 and it's been a week and my hair is still holding the same curl. All I use is a bonnet at night. I believe her name is Melissa, but she's in the 2nd chair from the left. My only word of advice is to instruct her to detangle your hair in the washbowl or right before blow-drying. Besides that, she did awesome. I have really thick hair and she really tamed it in a timely manner.
UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!!! It is so nice to see that one of the stylists bought the salon! Yahoo!! The salon was clean and fresh! My only recommendation is to add some lighting. My stylist was running a bit behind, not her fault, but she still did a great job and got me out in less than 45 minutes. I would definitely recommend!!
I brought my daughter here for her 16th birthday on Saturday, and honestly, I was kinda disappointed. First off, I thought they were going to actually wash and condition her hair (which they didn't, I'm glad my daughter decided to wash her hair the night before) the stylist just started by parting her hair, spraying it down and then blow drying it. My daughter does have ALOT of hair, but I wasn't expecting them to rush through doing her hair. My daughters hair is extremely thick and curly, and she only wanted it straightened. I think her stylist was sick, so she had another stylist come over and help with her hair (for some reason the second stylist was using a curling iron to straighten her hair instead of a flat iron) and they rushed through it, I guess to make sure they were done within an hour. I would have paid the extra if they had taken their time and gone over that hour, but that was never presented as an option. My daughters hair ended up frizzing up real bad about an hour after we left. That didn't happen when I took her to a different location. I dunno. I just know I probably won't be bringing her back. I'll save myself the $75 and do it myself, because I'm convinced I could've done a better job at home.
I used to love the Berkeley location. Unfortunately, I’ve had two terrible experiences at the Oakland location. The first time, the stylist ignored what we initially agreed upon as far as style and gave me some easy ringlets instead of waves, clearly trying to work as fast as possible and with no regard for client satisfaction. The second time, a different stylist used such force when brushing my hair that I was in pain and she only lightened her grip when I yelled “ouch”. She then proceeded to blow dry on the highest heat setting, very close to my scalp which was also very painful. I had to ask twice for her to hold it further away from my head. I wish I had better things to say since I really liked giving my business to the Berkeley location.
Took a CHANCE and let the Asian stylist do my 4A- Black Girl Hair because I needed a quick fix! ALL the way from Taiwan for a Chinese woman to do my hair in Oakland! THE IRONY (I’m used to great walk-in blowouts at Dominican shops on the East Coast) Good Experience Overall though she only did 1 shampoo, 2 is ideal Personable Staff (My Stylist/Shop Manager was pleasant & Told good stories) UNTIL I WAS HIT WITH THE $100 UPCHARGE!! She explained that the service took longer than 1 1/2 hours so I was charged double!! COMPLETE BS in my opinion 😡 In town for a funeral, I Paid and rushed out But likely WILL NOT go back next time I’m home! Read the fine print ladies......
