I didn’t feel welcome at the centre. Felt clicky vibes in the group. When asked to do a share after a meditation 3 people blanked me. I ended up leaving the session early.

I found the Buddhist Centre over 6 years ago at a time in my life when I was suffering with stress, anxiety and depression. I was looking for help, and I found it at one of the introductory courses, in the form of connection, friendship, openness, and meditation. Everyone was so welcoming, and I learned more and more about Buddhism which resonated with me, which piqued my interest and which helped me in some way. Eventually I asked to join a study group, and now Buddhism is central to my life - which has changed radically for the better!

A friendly, welcoming place, that offers a vibrant programme that caters for any level of inquisition. I came here because I was curious, then to learn how to meditate and now I am a part of a Dharma study group. I have not known a place to have my questions so accepted and even encouraged. Cups of tea, cakes, biscuits, and meaningful connections are offered to me every time I am there. Thank you.

The most friendly, helpful, patient, understanding people you will ever meet. I felt welcome from the very first day I walked into the centre, I was nervous, I had no idea what to expect and what I found was simply life changing. Awesome, down to earth advice over tea and cake, in a non-judgemental way. One of the key phrases i remember from my first visit was.. We separate mediation and buddhism, you are welcome to come and meditate and enjoy its benefits. If, however, you hear something you like when here then feel free to take it onboard and use it in your life. The shrine room is one of the most peaceful places I have ever visited, I miss it and make an effort to be there whenever I am back in Bristol.

I walked through the door of the centre and felt as if I was home. My experience has been the centre offers a safe place to learn how to 'be'. The shop has some great little treasures, books, meditation and yoga equipment. Classes are offered on a drop in basis and also as courses on a variety of topics, some Buddhist based and some meditation based. Go give it a try, you have nothing to lose!!
