I took my desktop PC to Aaron on June 30th after it had issues after a road trip. I was charged ~$70 and was told that I would hear from him in a day. That day passed with no communication. For the next couple weeks I received minimal updates aside from when I called him and was told various reasons for delays and issues my PC had. Eventually he told me over the phone that I was contacting him the most of any client he's had and that it was interfering with his work. He offered to give me my PC back or continue working on it. I chose to let him finish, and on July 12th I picked up my computer. I was told my graphics card was broken and he had put it on integrated graphics, which could run basic computer tasks. My graphics card was completely removed. It was also missing three screws, which he replaced with different ones screwed so tightly they pulled out the casings. I eventually took it to a Microcenter (for $50) for a second look. In 24 hours I was told that there was a small issue with the port for my monitor cable and that it was an easy fix. They reinstalled my graphics card and I took it home today. It now works just fine. I originally went to Broken Gizmo because I trusted a small business owner to not overcharge or upsell me and wanted to support a smaller computer repair company. I ended up having an unprofessional experience that led to parts of my PC being removed, screws lost, and a complete misdiagnosis of the issue with an offer to replace the graphics card for a fee. I cannot recommend anyone use his services for any reason as there are a multitude of other more reputable options available that will be more communicative, faster working, and reliable than Aaron was for me.
I had a terrible experience with Broken Gizmo. I was out of state and needed a quick fix, but instead, the guy kept my laptop for 2 days, charged me $60 for a completely wrong diagnosis, and handed it back with no fix at all. He told me my motherboard was dead, but all he had to do was exactly what I suggested, disconnect and reconnect the clock battery, which takes two minutes and would’ve solved the problem. When I finally got the laptop back, I noticed it was missing screws (it originally had 6, he returned it with only 2 inside). This makes me question whether parts were swapped or mishandled. Later, when I went back to my trusted repair guy in my home state, he fixed the issue right in front of me in under 2 minutes and confirmed the motherboard was perfectly fine. Not sure if this place even knows what they’re doing with laptops, but I definitely would not recommend them to anyone. Waste of time, money, and peace of mind.
This is a SCAM! He ripped 60$ off of me and said my motherboard was dead however I went to someone else and they fixed it in under 30 minutes. He has absolutely no idea what to do and he will just SCAM you for no reason. Save your time and money!!!!!
I’ve written out my whole experience with Aaron and quickly realized it is just too long to post and a bit hard to follow. All in all, I am 100% convinced I got scammed. The classic “oh now there’s this problem…” and “I need $60 to order this…” All with no communication on what the actual issue was in the first place or how he’s fixing it or why it’s not working. Very upset and very frustrated I ever took my computer to him in the first place. I got my computer back in pieces (probably stripped of parts) after being told for over a month he was working on it. I paid $80 for the original diagnostic and $60 for a new motherboard (which is basically an entire new computer). There’s no way he was telling me the truth throughout this process as none of it adds up. I was even told it was good to go at one point but of course wasn’t able to pick it up at that time… Do not come here unless you’re in desperate need to get rid of your computer for good, waste your money and time. I’m still waiting on my refund, we’ll see if I ever get that back.
Aaron is one of the best people I’ve dealt with. He’s very knowledgable and nice. I bought a computer from eBay which had a 4090 and was fully loaded. The build was terrible so it started having a lot of problems to the point where the AIO water cooler stopped working. I took it to Aaron initially thinking we’d just need to replace AIO and no big deal. He charged me his diagnosis fee which was about 85 dollars. Aaron ended up doing so much extra work on my build as it was put together so poorly and I ordered several new parts to replace. He even went and bought a new case to transfer the build to. None the less, when I picked up the computer I asked him how does this end up being worth 85 dollars. He said I didn’t expect your computer to have as many problems but atleast it was a fun project. I ended up paying 140 and even with that i still feel it’s too little for the work he’s done and his great attention to detail. We need to support more home businesses like Aaron that focus on nothing but quality and a smile on your face. I promise you he is better than any of these commercial places that will rip your pockets and not care about you.
