I had my Nikon D7500 and Tamron 150-600 cleaned here a couple of years ago and desperately need to return to this establishment. The owner was polite and seemed very knowledgeable about cinematography repairs. I felt a strong sense of trust and received a ticket to pick up my camera with an estimated same-day turnaround. I don’t remember exactly how long it took, but I believe I picked it up that same day. The price wasn’t cheap, but it was definitely reasonable for the level of expertise and quality of service provided. The gentleman even gave me a free lens cover after noticing I needed an extra one for my equipment. The overall quality of the cleaning was immaculate; it felt like picking up a brand-new camera.
As a professional photographer, my cameras are my most important tool and I highly recommend these guys for any camera or camcorder repair needs. I brought my Canon R6 here after Canon quoted me over $500 (plus weeks in time including shipping + repair + return shipping) to fix a cracked viewfinder. Camera Repair quoted me $150 and had my camera fixed (plus cleaned the sensor) within days. I dropped my camera off on Monday and it was ready to be picked up by Thursday. Super quick and solid service. 10/10!
I am very satisfied with Carlos' professionalism and quality of service. I read a few negative reviews on here and at first was hesitant but I'm super happy I brought my Sony A7ii to Carlos for repair. At the end of the day, most people here seem to be complaining about the length of time the repair takes or about communication. First off, camera repair can take a long time because often times parts need to be shipped. If you don't use a service provider like Carlos you're going to have to mail in your device and who knows how long it's going to take in that case - it's totally out of your hands - at least with Carlos you can get regular updates and pick it up as soon as its ready. Furthermore, Carlos called me to update me about the status of my camera multiple times (it required a backordered part and thus took about 1.5 weeks). If your part is readily ordered I suspect repairs would take between 3-5 days depending on how busy he is. Inspection is a very reasonable $35 fee + taxes. And you should expect to get a really nice discount compared to online "mail-in" options e.g. my repair cost ~$300 but would have cost at least ~$560 through a Sony service provider. $300 might sound like a lot but my repair required a new PCB board and full disassemby and re-assembly. Ultimately it saved me the cost of buying a new camera ($1k). I'm super grateful to have such a qualified and experience technician in the bay area and will definitely be making use of Carlos' services again in the future.
DO NOT BRING YOUR CAMERA HERE! I have dropped my camera off over 2 weeks ago with a promise to hear back in 2-3 days about an estimate. I have not received a call, and I have now called 3 times with no response. I just drove to the shop, and they were closed when they should be open (I do not live in the area either). I desperately need my camera back as I am moving and I do not want to engage in business with someone who goes completely ghost. Save your time and go to a different shop, as I do not know when I will even hear back/get my camera back (probably still broken).
Love it. Got my Nikon D780 fixed. I was about to send it to nikon (and they would have probs tried to sell me a new camera-oh manufacturers..) but carlos gave me a fair quote and there was past proof they fixed a D850 with great success-were talking non turning on cameras. While the parts are uncommon, they were able to source them in a reasonable time period and they repair was great. While not new, everything work great and already used it on a few shoots, couldn't be more happy. The crew revived my camera! By the way the camera literally was dropped really bad by the last owner.
