Such a lovely place for our breakfast. Ham and cheese croissant was one of the best I ever had (sorry no photo...but trust me it was soooo yummy). Very cozy environment. Staff is amazing. Kiara was so welcoming. Barista(sorry don't know his name) made such a great coffee. Will def return when next time on the Gold Coast.

Visited over the Australia Day long weekend and the experience was pretty underwhelming. The staff seemed very stressed, there was an 18% public holiday surcharge, and the process was clunky — you either had to order via QR code at the table or line up multiple times just to get a table and then order. The food was average at best. Bread was undercooked, eggs overcooked, and most of the sandwiches and toasties are clearly pre-made. The tuna melt in particular tasted fishy and was hard to finish. The atmosphere is fine and the location by the beach is great, so if you’re just after a quick coffee or a casual stop it does the job. But I wouldn’t recommend the food. Like many beachside venues, it feels like it relies on location rather than quality.

We had such an amazing experience at Castaway Coffee Bar! ✨🤩✨ From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt relaxed, welcoming, and full of good vibes. The food was absolutely fantastic 🤤 …fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The drinks were just as impressive, especially the coffees, which were perfect 🥰👌 A special mention has to go to Rick. What an incredible human being! He has this warm, genuine energy that instantly makes you feel at home 🤗 You can tell he loves what he does, and it really adds to the whole experience 💥👊 We also want to mention the lovely lady behind the counter making the coffees…. ☕️ we wish we remembered her name, because she was amazing as well ✨🙌✨ Friendly, kind, and clearly talented at what she does. Overall, Castaway Coffee Bar is the kind of place we look forward to coming back to. Great food, great drinks, and even better people. 5 stars from both of us. ✨

Q: When did you visit Castaway Coffee Bar? A: We visited during the GC500 weekend, which is always a busy time on the Gold Coast. The café was bustling with customers, but it was great to see the staff keeping up with the high demand. Q: How was the service? A: Service was understandably a bit chaotic due to the crowds, but staff remained friendly, welcoming and professional. Our food took a little longer than usual, but given the number of people waiting, it was completely reasonable. The team worked hard to manage orders efficiently and their effort did not go unnoticed. Q: How was the food quality and presentation? A: The food was fresh, delicious and well-presented. Portions were okay, some meals looked better than others but everything we ordered tasted great, from classic breakfast items to specialty coffee. Even during a busy weekend, Castaway Coffee Bar manages to maintain quality and flavour, which is impressive. Q: What about the atmosphere? A: The café had a lively, energetic vibe, perfectly matching the excitement of the GC500 weekend. It’s a fun spot to enjoy brunch, coffee or a quick bite with family and friends while soaking up the local Gold Coast energy. Q: Would you recommend Castaway Coffee Bar? A: Yes. Absolutely awesome cafe/bar located conveniently next to the Meriton. Pictures attached of our breakfasts the past 2 days- absolutely perfect. Amazing to see Kiara in action working. Believe she may be the lead chef. Pushes orders out quickly and delivers delicious food. Will definitely be returning here in the near future.
