I had an excellent experience with Dr. Quoc-Bao Nguyen. He is professional and friendly. He performed cauterizing procedures for me twice. The first time came out wonderful. I just had my second procedure done yesterday and expect the results as good as my first one. The nurse assistant is also very knowledgeable and friendly. Overall i am happy with this office.

Professional Care with Room for Improvement I recently visited Central Austin Dermatology & Aesthetics on Anderson Lane and had a mixed experience worth sharing. The highlight of my visit was working with Courtney Scamardo, PA-C. From the moment she entered the exam room, her professionalism was evident—she offered a confident handshake with excellent eye contact, which immediately put me at ease. Throughout the appointment, her communication was exceptionally clear. She took time to explain my concerns thoroughly and outlined treatment options in a way that was easy to understand without being condescending. Her clinical expertise and personable demeanor made the consultation feel genuinely collaborative. The facility itself is functional and clean. The waiting area is decidedly no-frills—basic seating and minimal décor—but it’s perfectly adequate if you’re not looking for spa-like amenities. The exam rooms are a strong point: bright, well-lit spaces that feel clinical in the best way, making it easy for thorough examinations. Unfortunately, my experience with the support staff fell short of expectations. There was minimal greeting upon arrival, and interactions felt transactional rather than welcoming. A little courtesy goes a long way in healthcare settings, and this was noticeably absent. Overall, I’d recommend this practice specifically for Courtney Scamardo’s excellent care. The staff and my provider Courtney were outstanding and professional and knowledgeable. Courtney listen very carefully to all of my concerns during treatment and was very helpful and lowering my cost of medications prescribed because some of them can be very expensive. I highly recommend this Dermatology Clinic for anyone that needs this specialty in their care.

I am so happy that I found this dermatologist! Everyone that I interacted with during my visit was so kind & had great energy. I met with Dr. Courtney Scamardo who is very caring, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. She took the time to listen & I walked out of the office with a clear treatment plan for my skin, feeling so happy, excited, and hopeful!!

I booked an appointment with Dr. Cadmus after avoiding dermatology visits for several years (which I did mention during my visit), hoping to finally receive the level of care and thoroughness mentioned here in other reviews. As a new patient, I thought it would be best to schedule a total body skin exam. The online booking process is okay, although not entirely user-friendly (the system & patient portals differ and can be somewhat disorganized). I wasn’t given any clear expectations for the type of appointment booked - either when my appointment was confirmed, upon entering the exam room, or even when the physician walked in. When Dr. Cadmus arrived, her approach felt a bit rushed and more “explain as you go,” which made it difficult to process everything being discussed (maybe rushed due to running behind schedule, as I did wait about half an hour after check-in to be seen). I also wasn’t informed beforehand that a medical assistant would be present during the exam. While I didn’t have an issue with the MA herself (she and the front desk staff were super), the lack of notice was uncomfortable as the exam required me to be in an entirely vulnerable position. Another moment that stood out was a comment Dr. Cadmus made about a skin condition on my face, one I had to identify myself.(“Oh, I thought you put something there” (blush?)). I already feel self-conscious about my skin and was a bit disappointed, as I expected there to be an obvious recognition of the common condition. Additionally, I did not receive a sample that was suggested during my visit, nor did I get a visit summary or clear instructions on where to find after-care information in the online portal, considering that I am a new patient at this practice. She asked whether I had insurance, to which I made clear that I did, yet still avoided discussing other treatments I inquired about due to cost concerns (which I have none nor did I suggest that I shared those concerns). Overall, I would say that my experience was average. However, I do still plan to return, as I am tired of searching for the “right” dermatologist and am hopeful that scheduling a different type of appointment for specific concerns one at a time may allow for more focused, less rushed explanations, treatments/procedures, and recommendations under less overwhelmingly vulnerable circumstances.
