My friends and I visited Ciao Bella this past weekend, and I can definitely understand why it gets mixed reviews—but overall, we had a really nice experience. Our server, Jade, was incredibly sweet and attentive, paying close attention to the small details. She even surprised us with a complimentary dessert for my friend’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. One thing I really appreciated was the pacing of the service. It felt slow and friendly in the best way—we were given time to settle in and review the menu without being approached right away, which made the experience feel relaxed rather than rushed. The service and ambiance were easily a 10/10; the space is beautifully decorated and clearly a lot of care went into the overall vibe. The food, however, didn’t quite meet my expectations. I ordered the chicken parm and swapped the noodles for the truffle gnocchi, and while it was good, it wasn’t anything particularly memorable. For dessert, I chose the torta—not because it immediately stood out to me, but because it felt like the most appealing option and I wanted something to nicely finish off the meal. Overall, I’d definitely return for the experience, service, and atmosphere, but not necessarily for the food, as I think there’s stronger Italian cuisine elsewhere in the city (though that’s a tough category to compete in these days). That said, the drink selection was phenomenal—there truly was something for everyone. The dessert menu felt a bit more unconventional, which may appeal to some, but personally it didn’t fully align with my tastes.
It was our first time here, meeting friends for a holiday get together. We were promptly greeted by two young ladies who were very friendly offering to hang our jackets and confirming our reservation. We enjoyed drinks, apps, mains and dessert leaving the restaurant so full and content. Antonio was our server and he was fantastic and really made our night so enjoyable. Another shout out to the valet driver, he was so personable and friendly, great service.
Ciao Bella offers a delightful dining experience with a few minor hiccups. We called ahead half an hour, and they didn’t ask us for the name. When we got there, we did have to wait just a few minutes, but it was a little concerning that they didn’t ask for our name, especially since it was a very busy night. The cocktails started strong with a Pistachio Sour (5/5), perfectly balanced and a fantastic choice. The Espresso Martini (5/5) was a classic done right, showcasing quality espresso. However, the Hello, Violet cocktail (4/5) was a tad too sweet for a martini. The pasta dishes were a highlight, with the Rigatoni Vodka (substituted with gnocchi, 5/5) delivering a spicy and creamy taste. The Rabbit Malfadine (5/5) was a standout, featuring tender, melt-in-your-mouth rabbit. The Linguini All'Astice (5/5) was a very good seafood linguini, well-balanced and not fishy. The Lamb Saddle (5/5) was perfectly cooked, with the black olives adding a Mediterranean touch. The Eggplant Parmigiana (5/5) was reminiscent of Italy, with perfectly layered flavors and fresh basil pesto. The Carppaccio (5/5) was exceptional, with perfect thinness and a delightful crunch from the potatoes. The Calamari (4/5) was slightly undercooked but still tasty. Desserts were a mixed bag. The Panna Cotta Dulce de Leche (4/5) was a symphony of flavors, though the sponge toffee made it slightly too salty. The Tiramisu (3/5) was watery, lacking in cheese and ladyfingers. And was far too light to what is preferred by those who had it. However, the Chocolate Crème Brûlée (5/5) was a standout, tasting like a sophisticated chocolate orange. Overall, the experience was great, though the unexpected $8 upcharge for substituting pasta was disappointing, especially since we weren't informed beforehand. The bill was over $400 with tip for three people, so money obviously wasn't the problem, but I would've liked to have been told about the upcharge beforehand. The atmosphere was lively, though a bit loud due to the busy night. The interior is beautiful. Thanks for a lovely evening, and apologies for the delayed review.
Appetizers were the artichoke dip and charcuterie board for two. Both were very yummy! Appetizers are both very generous in size and quite lovely for taste and presentation. For our main course, I had the chicken Parmesan with fettuccine Alfredo as my pasta. It was absolutely delicious and the serving was more than generous in my opinion, especially after the appetizers we had. My husband had the lamb saddle. He absolutely loved his lamb. We did an early dinner at 5 PM on a Friday night so it’s hard to judge the atmosphere as it was still daylight outside and that made it a little more less cozy. But by the time we finished dinner, it was dark outside and it was very cosy in there with the special lighting they have The staff were a little slow at the beginning to bring us menus or drinks, but after that, it was bang bang bang. It was fantastic.
We hosted my daughter's baby shower at "The Penthouse" by Ciao Bella yesterday, and it was truly a beautiful and memorable day! The space was absolutely stunning, elegant, bright, and perfect for celebrating such a special occasion. The weather was so perfect, that our guests were blown away by the views from the patio...it added special touch to the whole event. The atmosphere was relaxed yet classy, and everything flowed so smoothly. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious! It's that kind of attention to detail that really elevated the entire experience to the day. Thank you Teresa and the team at "The Penthouse" by Ciao Bella for helping create such a wonderful celebration. I highly recommend this space for any event where you want beauty, comfort and unforgettable vibes.
