So far off to a bad start. House dance which i wanted to take was canceled so I took afro dance hall which sucked so much because the teacher cannot teach. Sorry, but "ha-ha" is not directional. Couldn't follow him at all so I left. They agreed to let me keep the slot for another class, so I will try again. *Following up after my experience with this studio. Your teachers are subpar. The house dance class was fun, but far too "pre-packaged" to be considered a real beginner class. I've taken dance classes over the years, and nothing as mediocre as this studio. Your teachers really need to learn to give better direction and break things down into slower steps, rather than a whole choreography.
Super disappointed with CDC’s customer service and class cancellations. I purchased a 20-class pass at CDC, expecting a decently consistent schedule and reliable class options. Unfortunately, MORE THAN HALF of the classes I signed up for were cancelled, and many of the styles I joined the studio for (contemporary and jazz) simply weren’t running, despite being on their calendar every week. After repeatedly expressing that I’ve only been able to use a small fraction of my pass due to cancellations entirely outside my control, CDC refused to offer a fair solution. Their latest email (after several exchanges) was full of policy language about fairness and consistency, but none of that seems to apply when students lose opportunities because of their own scheduling issues. Extending my pass by just 10 days, while calling it a “special exception,” does nothing to fix the problem when cancelled classes are what caused the issue in the first place. They even implied that posting a negative review wouldn’t be a fair reflection of the situation, which is incredibly dismissive. I’m happy to take responsibility for my own choices, but when a studio cancels over half the classes a student registers for, it’s hard to see how that’s the student’s fault. I genuinely wanted to love this place...the teachers were great... but the management’s rigidity and lack of accountability left a really bad taste. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a pass here unless you’re okay with constant cancellations and zero flexibility from the admin team.
I started taking House this year to follow an old dream I had. So grateful CDC offers it. Joey makes classes the right amount of challenging and accessible. I sometimes get lost but she literally comes over and repeats the routine with me which feels really supportive. House is hard but she helped me a bit extra at the end which was appreciated. One day I will move like a househead 😊 Thanks Joey.
HUGE HUGE fan of the studio! I showed up two years ago scared and unsure if I was making the right decision, but joining CDC was the best thing that has ever happened to me. All the teachers are super inclusive and supportive, as are the front staff and members. I've never felt so supported as I do at City Dance Corps, and would recommend it to anyone who's interested in stepping out of their comfort zone and being a part of a supportive loving community.
Really wonderful dance studio! The teachers are incredible and very kind and helpful when teaching. They adapt to you based on your skills but have classes of different levels. I highly recommend the salsa and bacahata programs or the latin program overall - really amazing teachers and staff. Thank you CDC team 💙
