I have contacted this facility by email 3x now with no response. My original message was sent seven days ago. I have been charged for three months of membership with no access to services. In my email, I requested cancellation of fees due or credit for three months and payment will be received. Charging for services that I cannot access violates the intent of agreement and may breach North Carolina’s Prepaid Entertainment Contracts Law (N.C. Gen. Stat. §66-118 et seq.), which requires fair access or refund for unused services. I am no longer able to access my online account (shows frozen) to see if membership charges have been dismissed or credited. If no communication is received in one more additional business day, then I will continue with my claim.
When starting club Pilates they make you sign a three month contract that locks you into a set subscription of classes per month. During the first three month’s I tried to cancel my subscription because of time conflictions. I was then notified of a cancellation fee up until the three months ended. I have tried repeatedly to cancel my membership by calling and texting the provided numbers to no response. At the end of my three months I went to my final Pilates class and notified them I would no longer be continuing my classes there. To which I was told I had to give a 30 day cancellation fee and would still have my subscription cost of 199.00 withdrawn from my account for the month of June July. The front desk individuals are never there except to sign people up for memberships and once you start if you want to be done with these classes they make it near impossible. Attached are images of the phone calls. The initial red phone calls were answered and the subsequent black calls were unanswered.
I am a former member of Club Pilates Studio. I have tried to call and ask questions DURING “OPENED HOURS” multiple times about several different matters, but never got answers (I can attach receipts). The only time I got an answered phone call was when they wanted to give me a free class, sign me up for a membership, and then take money from me. Since then, nobody answers the phones and I always had to make extra trips up to the facility OUTSIDE OF THE DAYS MY ACTUAL PILATES CLASSES WERE SCHEDULED and inconvenience myself when I am working part time and in school full time to discuss simple matters that could have been discussed over the phone. I also went to Club Pilates on April 5th, 2025 to discuss cancellation and was simply told by the same woman who started my membership over the phone that I needed to finish out my 3 month agreement before canceling or changing anything, however, NOTHING was stated about a 30 day cancellation notice. I’m confused as to why she didn’t just tell me about the cancellation notice right there so that my membership could end after the 3rd month was up? That was not thorough communication on her end. I went up there today when the 3 months were over to cancel, like she told me to, only to be told that I had to pay $200 for another month because I didn’t give a notice, when technically, I did on April 5th, 2025 the day I tried to cancel my membership in person. However, a case will be opened with my bank against Club Pilates to refund the charge that will be made to my account on 06/15/25 for this upcoming month with 8 classes that I vocalized to the same woman that I will not be participating in. None of this makes sense to me and I can only say one good thing about my experience at club Pilates and that has been an instructor, Mila, who is only there every Saturday who’s classes I always enjoyed. Apart from her, I have had nothing but trouble and stress from Club Pilates. P.S. they do have my signature from when I was there to try the 30 minute free trial class, but IT WAS FORGED on the actual membership form since she started my membership for me over the phone!! ONLY ANSWERED CALLS ARE IN RED AT THE START OF MY 3 MONTH MEMBERSHIP TRIAL AND SIGNING UP FOR FREE TRIAL CLASS ON THE 12th!! After I tried to call back the same day that the membership started to ask more questions about the fine print, all of a sudden, no answers from there. These calls do not count the 4-5 times I have had to go up there to ask simple questions that could have been answered over the phone (some days the doors were locked and the building was empty when the business hours online for the Battleground location said they were opened and operating, leaving some of these trips I made to be blank ones!!) THE OWNER/MANAGER IS ONLY AFTER MONEY!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Wanted to try Pilates for the first time and I enjoyed the few classes I was able to book with limited slots . However communication at this specific location was terrible for me. The whole billing and cancellation process is a rip off and is not clearly communicated! Takes forever to get email responses and can never get hold of anyone over the phone either . I had an experience that made me uncomfortable, chose not to continue booking sessions (which were even hard to secure in the first place). I paid my dues and upheld to my 3 month contract, and I’m still being charged a cancellation fee simply because I chose not to continue going to classes although I paid. How can one be forced to attend sessions if they are not comfortable doing so??
I've been a member of Club Pilates for a while now and I absolutely love it! The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly, and always make the classes engaging and challenging. The variety of classes offered ensures there's something for everyone, whether you're a beginner or an advanced practitioner. However, I do have a couple of minor complaints. The air conditioning could definitely be improved. It can get quite warm during the more intense sessions, and better cooling would make the experience even more enjoyable. Additionally, the $10 cancellation fee for not canceling within the 12-hour window feels a bit steep, especially for those of us who take the 6am classes. Sometimes life happens, and needing to cancel in the middle of the night shouldn't result in a penalty. Overall, though, the positive aspects far outweigh these minor inconveniences. Club Pilates is a fantastic place to get a great workout and stay in shape. Highly recommended!
