I really liked the structured approach, they have a separate level for beginners so you all your fundamentals are down and only then move to level 2 for rolling and learning some advance moves. Everyone was very friendly and make you feel welcomed. Will be missing "1, 2, 3 CAA"
I trained at Combat Room (along with my 2 kids) while on a 6 month sabbatical in Wellington. Overall, it was an amazing experience for all of us. The environment is welcoming and friendly. Prof Vanderson is a top-notch instructor who has built an awesome community and culture. The facility is immaculate and I loved easy access to the strength training area. The kids classes and instructors are also excellent. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Best place to get grappling, striking, conditioning and just in general good company experience. Supportive group that helps each other. Lift while you climb is definitely about owners of this place. I want to be able to start going at it again once my personal circumstances allow. This place has been the most impactful one and positively changed my life in the last 3 something years I have been there
We (my daughter in BJJ and I myself have done both Muy Thai and BJJ) have been with CAA for about 4 years, with some seasonal breaks in between summer... and just life happening. Coach Sonia truly pours heart and intention into the way CAA operates as a business, builds community and edifies youth and adults with where they're at and the goals they want to reach. Our family has had really great experiences with every coach... other members, families, and in-house tournaments... We appreciate the intention to curate the literal space making it easy for families to join and be in community (the kids area, the strength training gym). It's been a constant source of confidence, strength, discipline and fun for our daughter. Highly recommend, obvi.
Combat Arts Academy is hands down one of the best Muay Thai gyms around. The environment is super welcoming and supportive no matter your experience level. Whether you’re a total beginner or advanced, you’ll feel right at home here. The coaches are knowledgeable and approachable, and everyone in the gym—from staff to fellow members—treats you like part of the team. Great training, great people, and a great place to grow. Highly recommend if you get to meet coach Sonia you will automatically feel the passion that has been poured into this place a lot of us are lucky to call home also
