I suppose the high ratings come from people who have never canceled. I moved two months after joining on what they called a month to month cancel any time membership. I met with the manager as they require to cancel my membership as I was moving back up north. I signed a formal letter of cancellation and they said they had to charge me my initiation fee and balked but accepted. they never canceled my membership. i changed to a new card for a lost card. they were able to keep charging me because they called VISA... I am not making this up... the bank told me this.. making the plea they did not want to see my membership lapse (when I already canceled). i stopped payment and i thought it would end. I just got a call from a nasty attorney today saying I owed $950 and I said I had canceled for a reason they would allow cancellation of a month to month cancel anytime membership for... moving out of the area... and signed a letter with the manager witnessing and they wanted to hear nothing of it saying its not on record.. of course. fortunately, I am in a chapter 13 and that ended their collection effort, but what a slimy, if not illegal operation, this gym is. Google them to see the complaints. If you join, you will never get away with cancelling. They will charge you until the end of time
At first I was going to the Midlothian location bc they had the kid section but I started getting up at 430am just so I didnt have to bring my crotch goblins. This place is always so clean, it gets a little packed but, its a gym right? People pay to be there so theyre there at all hours. Vinnie is there every morning, he greets me by name and is consistently working the entire time making sure the gym is stocked, clean, and organized. Great location to visit
This Crunch location is by far my favorite! I live in Chesterfield, but I drive to this Crunch to work out every other day bc It’s always super clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Jess, who helped me with everything I needed when I got started. 10/10 def would recommend Scott’s Addition Crunch!
Not a fan. A close friend spent several thousand $ on a training / membership package. He ended up needing to move for work and Crunch refused to terminate the training package early - which still had a value around $2k. Their suggestion was to either find a way to use the training package (when he no longer lived anywhere near RVa) or give them away. Bottom line, they wanted their $. Be very careful with these people. Ethics don’t appear to be a strong suit.
4th update: 9-27-2025 gym should open at 6am. I was there until 6:33 and it was not open. Another person who arrived also said this wasn’t the first time it happened to him this month. So how often is this happening. Why won’t the gym do something? I emailed them and told them there were multiple ways to fix the issue. Either have 2 staff available at open to lessen the likelihood of not opening on time, give us an emergency number to call when it’s not open, or give us access with a code or a key fob. It’s quite simple. 3rd update: 6-12-2025 gym opens at 5am but no one was there at 5:55am. This is the 3rd time it has happened to me. Things happen, people don’t wake up on time, why doesn’t management have a backup plan for when that happens? This should have happened once and then the issue rectified. 2nd update: No one at the front desk this morning for the entire 40 minutes I was at the gym. While it was open, what’s the point of locking the door if staff will not be there to answer questions. Also note, since they have an unlocked computer and no staff, this seems like a big security risk for personal details and possible billing. Update to my review: today I visited and it’s almost 6am and they still aren’t opened. It’s supposed to open at 5am. This has happened to me twice in 2 months and another guy waiting outside it has happened to him 10 times. So clearly this is a problem that they refuse to find a solution to or at the very least are unaware because there is no way to communicate with management. On one visit I found that 4 of the paper towels holders were empty (I haven’t counted but that has to be 50%). I told the front desk and the 2 of them laughed and said they would let Marie know when she got in!!! What is the point of the front desk staff if not to fix issues? They are hardly ever at the front when you walk in so is their only job to unlock the door in the morning? I would have notified the facility directly instead of a review but there is no way to provide feedback to someone other than at the front desk and we know how that turned out.
