I was invited to a performance hosted by Dance Matter in December, and I enjoyed it so much that I knew I wanted my daughter to be part of that experience. When I reached out, they explained that every child adjusts to ballet at their own pace. However, from the very first class, her teacher made her feel so welcome and created such a warm, engaging environment that my daughter fell in love with it immediately. I’m truly happy to be part of Dance Matter and have already recommended it to all my friends.

I’ve been taking adult ballet classes with Kerry for about a year now, and it’s been an absolute pleasure. Kerry is an incredible instructor who makes ballet feel really approachable and fun. She’s very attentive and gives thoughtful corrections, always in a way that feels encouraging and helpful rather than intimidating. What I especially appreciate is how she explains technique. Her analogies make so much sense and make the movements much easier to understand and remember - it really helps things click. She also creates such a safe and positive class environment. It’s a place where you can focus on improving, ask questions, and still have fun. I always leave class feeling like I learned something and genuinely look forward to coming back.

I would not recommend this place to any parent. One of the teachers, Kerry, removed a mat from underneath a 3-year-old child, causing the child’s head to hit and bounce on the concrete floor. The child immediately started crying, and instead of showing concern or checking for injury, she acted as if nothing had happened. It was extremely upsetting to witness. In addition, she frequently yells at the children, which is not an appropriate or constructive way to handle toddlers. We have also observed her ignoring children who are brown while giving attention to others, which raises serious concerns about fairness and possible discrimination. On multiple occasions, she has been seen squeezing the hands of small children when they did not listen to her. This kind of physical handling is completely unacceptable. Another concerning issue is how they handle recitals or shows. If your child is not participating, they may be excluded from class activities related to the performance, which can make young children feel left out and confused. Overall, the environment did not feel safe, supportive, or inclusive. I would strongly encourage parents to carefully consider these concerns before enrolling their child.
