Literally showed Shantae a picture of the hair style and she chose not to do it or inform us of the price for the hairstyle we requested. The hairstyle was not what we asked for and she told us to pay an extra $20 to take out 8 loose braids that were done to keep the hair from getting tangled. I had a conversation with her and she genuinely couldn’t understand what she did wrong. She continued on to say that they don’t get complaints and she didn’t know what to do when I complained. Very unprofessional and shady. Avoid this business.
Very unhappy with my experience. I came in for a basic braid down, and when I got home and really looked at my hair, the braids were loose in the middle and the ends were left untucked. Even for a simple cornrow braid down, it should be neat, secure, and finished properly. What I have won’t even last a week. I sent a text message about the issue and I was called back and told I could come back, but all they could do was “tuck the loose hair.” Where the hair is loose, it needs to be completely re-braided. IT should have been done correctly the first time. Actually, before I left, the braider hadn’t even tucked the hair I ASKED the braider before I even got out of the chair to make sure the ends were tucked, so I shouldn’t have had to point that out at all. Then I was also told my hair was “too short,” during the call which doesn’t make sense. It’s actually easier to tuck shorter hair than it is longer hair 😤 I’ve had plenty of braid downs before that lasted 6–8 weeks. What’s in my head now won’t last six days. During the call, I could hear someone in the background saying a braid down is “just cornrows.” Even cornrows shouldn’t be left loose in the back. On top of that, the booking and location situation was frustrating. My confirmation listed one location, but when I arrived, I was told to drive to another location five minutes away. Another client had the same thing happen while I was there, so this clearly isn’t a one-time issue. I only tried this place because my 3 year old daughter gets her hair done here about 3-4 times in the last year by the same braider, who has always done an amazing job. That’s the only reason I trusted them with my own hair. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won’t be coming back for my own services. If something this basic couldn’t be done right, I don’t trust anything more complicated.
Pretty good experience. The website was easy to book. The stylist was swift and the style was exactly what I showed her. My daughter loves the style and prices are less expensive than competitors. Just would recommend a warmer welcome - because new clients aren’t familiar with the process and expectations at appointment time.
I took my granddaughter here for the first time because of a referral and she has a lot of hair. I was highly disappointed and appalled at how long my granddaughter was there and the braids were not neat at all. The pictures on the poster of their door are NOT real pictures of their work because it did not match the quality. My granddaughter said she was constantly taken from one suite to the other back and forth by a young braider. These young braiders should not be running a salon without any haircare experience. I was already uncomfortable with leaving my baby there without supervision. Parents beware of this salon because leaving your child and you can’t see what’s going on is a RED FLAG! Especially when they are young and it’s their first time. I appreciate the referral but our experience was far from great.
I didn’t want to write this review, but I am really upset. Although Meme is sweet, she should only do braids for small children and not market the ability to do weaves. I dropped my daughter off for a flip over quick weave for her birthday and asked MeMe if I had enough hair before I left and I was told yes. I went to pick up my daughter and this is what her hair looked like (1st picture). I asked my daughter why was her hair two different textures and she told me MeMe had to buy more hair and the store didn’t have the hair I bought. It was really hard to believe this because the beauty supply store is huge and has several different brands and types of hair that could have blended in better. Even though I thought it was not acceptable, I still gave a $10 tip because I was a loyal customer. I checked my phone when I got home and noticed I received a text that said I still owed $15 for the hair she had to buy. I told her since I paid a $10 tip, I would just send $5 to her cash app. At this point, I am thinking why did I even tip a bad hair style and still was told I owe money. If anything, I should have received a discount for this mess. I had to pay my hairstylist the same day to fix it. She couldn’t believe the quality of the hairstyle. My stylist thought it was done some days ago and my daughter had slept on it. My daughter literally looked like a friendly lion. The 2nd picture is after my stylist fixed it. She had to cut a substantial amount of hair off to blend it well. Thank goodness for her because she did it last minute. The fact that MeMe didn’t even recognize this was unacceptable is what made me so upset and made me pay for hair that was no where near the texture of what I brought in. Unfortunately, we will not be back. In response to your reply. Both photos are the exact same hair!! I had to take my daughter to another hair stylist to redo the hair style. It is simply disappointing to say the very least that you allowed my child to leave that salon with her hair like that (first photo). You are the professional if you didn’t like the hair we could have went back to the beauty supply. Have some accountability and acknowledge you didn’t do a good job period. Then charged full price! You should be ashamed of yourself.
