Everything was an amazing from the Espresso martini to the Banana Foster Butter Cake. The crab cake had delicious buttery chunks of crab meat. The burrata and beet salad was pleasant though I thought that it would be warm given the description of “roasted” . The Parmesan sole was fabulous, the bone-in ribeye was perfectly cooked with a blue cheese crust. It was a delightful birthday dinner with my son.
I haven't written a review in a long time, but Eddie V's really does deserve it. My wife and I went for our 7th anniversary, and couldn't have had a better time. We got there a bit early, and while they offered to go ahead and seat us were also cool with us sitting at the bar to enjoy a couple of excellent cocktails. Even the bread and butter, which you'd think would be pretty standard, really stood out. From there we took our seats and were immediately greeted by Nona, who did an outstanding job of taking care of us the entire time. The food was delicious. Everything came out exactly as requested and if we had a baby sitter every Sunday, you can bet this is where we'd be.
I had the filet medallions oscar. I ordered my steak medium and got a rare steak. I wasn't very impressed by that, somehow, I feel like if you pay $70 for a plate of food, the cooks should know how to prepare the meat without it being sent back. My cocktail was absolutely worth the $17 paid for the 3 ounces of alcohol. Wonderfully prepared. The scalloped potatoes were also fantastic, and the lump crab flavorful. The whitestaff was on point. I absolutely loved our waiter, Roger. He was attentive and engaging, and just overall very easy. The atmosphere was quite antiquated, and if you're going to charge anywhere from $60 to $150 a plate, there shouldn't be three inches of dust in the bathroom on the doors. I understand that that is a weird thing to be picky about. But, if I'm going to pay that much for dinner, I expect the restaurant to be in immaculate condition. Classy even. Overall, I would say it was a good visit for a new experience in a once a lifetime thing, but I wouldn't repeat the experience at that cost, again just based on cleanliness alone.
I have never had a bad experience here but this visit was exceptional. I reserved a table in the bar area to celebrate a work achievement, which I described in Opentable. When we arrived, the staff had signed a card congratulating the moment. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. I would absolutely recommend the Arboretum location in Austin to anyone who asked.
We’ve been to Eddie Vs on many occasions and it is always outstanding. Today, my wife and I got our motorcycle licenses after a grueling two days of learning. So a celebration was in order. In this visit we spared no expense. Had the shrimp cocktail, caviar, filet with lobster tails, wagyu strip with lobster tails, a 24 Karat cocktail and a smoked Old Fashion, plus the incredible crab fried rice. To end they made us a special desert and set it on fire, along with our crème brûlée. With tip, $525. Our server Farzan (spelling…sorry) was incredible. The pinnacle of attention and caring. It’s quiet in general even when busy as it is a date or business dealing kind of place. An occasional large party may raise the volume. However it’s always respectable. And for this visit, the wagyu and caviar were some of the best I have ever had. The caviar melted in your mouth and the warm blinis were amazing. The horseradish and Parmesan encrusted steak (cooked medium well…sorry) is literally the best steak I have ever had. I’m very serious. I’ve eaten at a lot of fancy places and all the way to Texas Roadhouse. This was the BEST steak. Juicy, tender, and everything you would expect from wagyu. But this one? Superb. While we may not always spend this much at this establishment, it was well deserved.
