This was my second time visiting this restaurant. Their carne asada is really good—8/10. The birria tacos were just okay—6/10 (for the best birria, I’d still recommend Nenes Taqueria in Brooklyn). I might come back again for the carne asada only. The only thing I didn’t like was the cilantro situation. They barely put any cilantro, and when I asked for extra, they wanted to charge $2 for what should have been the normal amount. I don’t like when restaurants charge extra for something that should already be included. I’m the type who would fly to Mexico just to eat tacos, so I was honestly a bit disappointed. Go at your own will, don’t expect much customer service.
First time going here and I absolutely love it. We have the ginger & lemon tea. The lamb tacos and the dipping sauce and guacamole with chips. Also the chicken tostados. The mango drink (2). This place had a nice vibe and I will definitely be goes back. The craving satisfied my stomach 😋. Thank you for serving us.
Food was delicious and such great value. We did family style ordering 3 types of tacos, chicken enchiladas and steak fajitas. Brought a nice bottle of wine as BYOB. Our new favorite spot in JC for sure.
Nice place, with a homely feel. Other than me, there was just one table occupied by non-Hispanics which is some evidence of authenticity (I cannot judge everyone was Mexican, as I am not that good at identifying accents and dialects). From the time I spent in Guadalajara, I have been a fan of birria de chivo, so my order was a no brainer when I found it on the menu. Here it was lamb instead of goat, but good nonetheless. Tortillas were fresh and came in a beautiful straw basket. Churros were a slight letdown but you could blame it on me not knowing the difference between Spanish churrows and Mexican - this was more dense and more doughy in the center - was heavy enough to feel a breakfast dish on its own, rather than a post meal dessert.
A+ on all accounts — food, service, atmosphere. Authentic mexican restaurant with quality ingredients. Their horchata was incredible and the tortilla chips in the nachos were pretty much perfect and were a solid foundation for the toppings. Very friendly service and reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place.
