Over the course of the twenty years that I have been drawing and painting, I have studied under great artists who could not teach and great art teachers who could not draw. Amanda at the Fine Art academy has both a talent for art as well as a gift for teaching. In just my first three lessons, She had already filled so many gaps in my knowledge that my previous training that neglected. Her expertise in the basic fundamentals of art make her suited for both new students looking to start off on the right foot as well as older students looking to improve their skills. FAASA has my strongest endorsement as an academy of the arts.

My daughter is dyslexic and loves to draw, and we desperately wanted to boost her confidence in herself. She has struggled in school, moved to different schools, and received therapy. While she is still very young, we decided to try an art class to see if that would increase her self-esteem and help with her fine motor. My daughter felt instantly motivated and happy after the first class. The staff was very helpful and kind, and the environment was comfortable inspiring. I am super impressed at how well my daughter is thriving in art class. She is 7 years old and had no prior experience besides doodling. Her doodles improved tremendously after just a few classes. If I had to change one thing, I would like the coloring supplies to be included as the class is quite pricey. Nonetheless, my daughter is very happy here.

The Fine Art Academy of San Antonio has been an absolute gift in my life. From the moment I stepped into the studio, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and joy. The environment is welcoming, inspiring, and full of creative energy—but it’s the instructors who truly make this place shine. They challenge you in the most encouraging way, meeting you exactly where you are while gently pushing you to grow and see your potential. Their knowledge is matched only by their kindness. In my short time at the academy, I can already feel my skills growing. Each class leaves me feeling both stretched and supported—like I’m truly progressing as an artist. It’s been a deeply fulfilling journey so far, and I’m excited to keep going!! What makes the experience even more enriching is the community. Each class is filled with adults of all skill levels, all united by a shared desire to learn and improve. There’s a mutual respect that’s rare to find—everyone is rooting for each other, offering encouragement and celebrating progress together. I have been taking art classes for over a year now and highly recommend the Fine Art Academy of San Antonio! I’m an experienced artist, with a painting degree, but was looking for someone to help dust off my cobwebs and give me the confidence to paint again after years of pursuing a design career and raising children. The supportive and nurturing environment is unlike any other studio I have ever experienced. All students follow the same process (regardless of experience or ability) starting with drawing, then charcoal, and then finally on to painting. This leveling exercise creates a foundation for all students and was an invigorating experience for me as I hadn’t done most of the exercises since art school. Another unique aspect of the Fine Art Academy is the rolling enrollment which means you are surrounded by artists of different levels, often using different media, all in the same class which I find to be very refreshing and inspiring at the same time. The monthly fee structure offers flexibility and gives you the freedom to try something new without feeling you are locking yourself into something for an entire semester. I have LOVED my experience at this studio and highly recommend you try it too!
