I had an appointment on January the second for my 17 year old shih tzu. She had a stroke and I had to have her put to sleep. They were so, so nice and caring about my wishes for her. The vet took time to explain everything that was going to happen every step of the way. They all took the best of care of her. They also didn't charge me for an office visit and I thought that is was nice. Thanks everyone for making this devastating time better for me. Lilly and Judy Briley.

This review is long overdue & I’ve sat with this on my heart for a year as I gave time for the Alabama Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners to convene. October 2024 My sweet dog Chloe Rai died a excruciating painful death that I don’t wish for anyone’s animal… I trusted Flint River Animal Hospital to provide care for my beloved dog, Chloe Rai, during a critical medical crisis. A surgery was done to repair her intestines from an intussusception on a Monday. By Tuesday night, I noticed something was wrong postoperatively & Despite my proactive involvement, multiple visits each day that week and my repeated efforts to communicate concerns about her worsening condition… the clinic failed to act with urgency and did not take the complaints seriously. I was told I was overly concerned and that my knowledge as a nurse did not translate into the vet world. Lack of attention to her symptoms, critical delays in care, and inadequate communication about her condition defined our experience. Their inaction led to Chloe’s condition worsening, ultimately requiring emergency surgery at another facility in Tennessee.. where i wasn’t instructed to take her until hours before her death. There, on Friday of that week it was discovered that her critical condition was caused by ruptured intestinal sutures from the surgery performed earlier that week from Flint River… leading to sepsis and her death. I was mislead throughout my entire encounter with Flint River & I was not prepared for what took place that evening. I sat in their office holding Chloe as she was actively bleeding out as they continued with routine examinations on everyone else’s animal for nearly 2 hours, them being FULLY aware of my critical complaint, That her stomach was bloated & she was in pain… The result of this occurrence landed me in an emergency vet in Tennessee and $10,000 in debt… this heartbreaking outcome was not expected & was preventable with earlier intervention and honesty. As a pet parent, I felt dismissed and ignored by multiple staff members. The lack of empathy, accountability, and urgency deeply compounded the pain of losing my irreplaceable baby, Chloe. This experience was not only emotionally devastating and traumatic but financially burdensome. The situation has been escalated to the Alabama Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and the clinic has been privately held accountable.. Based on what we endured, I cannot recommend this clinic. This is Chloe on her final day. Blessings.

Every appointment with Dr. Struthers has been an excellent experience. She is thorough and gentle with her examinations. She remembers our dog’s behavior from previous visits and was quick to notice when he wasn’t acting like himself because he wasn’t feeling well. We appreciate her attention to detail and her responsiveness. She takes the time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and answers all of our questions thoroughly. We are very thankful to have such a wonderful doctor look after our furry family member. Also I’d like to thank the vet assistant, who we’ve seen on the same appointments, for being supportive and kind. Both professionals are caring, knowledgeable, and overall provide excellent service.

Amazing place.. the staff are so kind and helpful and when it comes to my fur baby I needed to trust whomever was seeing them. Highly recommend!!!
