This needs to be a priority stop next time you’re in Brush Park, 5 minute walk from LCA! I have been loyal to FTLS since they’ve opened and it’s hands-down, my favorite dessert spot in Detroit. Manal, the owner, is so down-to-earth and really puts her heart and soul into fueling her bakery’s successes. Every detail from the crystal chandelier and mint colored interior along with the freshly baked cake aroma create the most whimsical atmosphere for the ultimate sit-down dessert experience. There are so many menu favorites but the Matilda cake (warmed), with a scoop of their house-made vanilla custard.. just do it and thank me later! I am very particular about macarons and the texture, and these are BY FAR my favorite- slightly chewy inside, perfectly crisp on the outside! The flavors: triple berry, creme brûlée, and simple vanilla are pure decadence in every bite. They also have a wide selection of coffee beverages (birthday cake latte- YUM!), to-go custard pints, and even several vegan and gluten-free treats so there is something for everyone! Whether you have a special celebration or a “just because” sweet craving you can ask for a custom celebration board with your favorite treats!

The sweets here are as fantastic as they were 7 years ago—quality is perfectly consistent. Took one star off for minor service issues: they didn't ask if my order was dine-in or takeaway, and my double shot came in a large cup until I asked for a regular one.

I visited on 10/13 before a concert at Little Ceasers Arena. The gal that helped us was the only one working and she did a great job at managing the crowd, being kind, and even answering the phone. I admired how real she was and actually human. The food. YUM. I’m gluten free with celiac disease and got two cookies, a slice of chocolate chip cake, and a cake pop. The cake pop was out of this world, the cookies had a great chewy texture which is hard to find, AND this cake is up there with the best gluten free cakes I’ve ever had. I thought the prices were average for gluten free baked goods. Will 100% go back!

9/21/25: Came before a symphony concert I was attending. They had a lot of gluten-free options, so that's great if you have those allergies, since there's quite a bit to choose from. I just got regular stuff. I got a strawberry refresher, a couple of macarons, and a blueberry lemon(?) cake. I was not impressed with the refresher. And it had a lot of ice =01. If I get a Starbucks refresher, I normally tell them to hold the ice, so I get more, but yeah, didn't think about that here as I was too busy looking around. It was "okay"; I didn't feel it was worth the $7 I paid for it(and not because of the ice). The macarons and the cake were good though; 5★. Service wasn't all that great; or maybe I should say it was standard, emotionless service(no greetings, conversations, etc.) but it was just before closing, so I'll give them a bit of a break. Still, the cake and macarons were good enough to elicit a return, but with such a lukewarm reception, it won't be any rush to do so =01... Certainly worth trying if you haven't been here, esp if you need gluten-free options.

Took my wife out for a date at For the Love of Sugar. The spot is colorful and good vibes. Plenty of cakes and sweets, cookies and brownies along with coffee and drinks. My wife got carrot cake. I got macaroons, Mac-a-ROOOooooons. The purple ones are Honey and lavender and Multi-berry. The flavors were very light, but the we're good overall. The other two are creme brulee and Dubai chocolate. Thoes where out if this world. We both got cold brew, coffee with milk and sweet cream foam. Spent just over 20$ with tip. Definitely a excellent date night spot.
