My 4 year old son took swimming lessons this summer with the exceptional, Diana Perry. What truly set Diana apart was her dedication and tailored instruction towards each of her students. While her approach may have been strict at times, it was undeniably effective in pushing my son and peers to get better and better with each session. As a parent, I am incredibly grateful for Diana's guidance and recommend her to anyone seeking an instructor who is not only great and skilled but also dedicated to each swimmer's progress, safety and success.
My 3.5 year old learned how to swim after just a few lessons with Ms. Diana! She is firm- with good reason- and also kind, loving, and an expert at what she does. I appreciate her high expectations of the kids. Her method is effective and she keeps the kids safe. My son cried and yelled for the first two lessons, and now talks about wanting to go back even though his session is over. I am so thankful for Good Swim, and her price is very fair considering the amazing results. Truly the best money I could have spent this summer.
This is our fifth round of swim lessons(first time with Diana) and my son was swimming by day two. She is encouraging but firm which is exactly what he needed. She is truly brilliant at what she does. I wish we had come to her first. My son’s confidence in swimming has made it worth every penny. Diana is genuinely the best out there.
I wanted to address the negative review left a couple of weeks ago about the pool being dirty, the kids mistreated, and the 3 year old being put in time-out. My daughter was the 3 year old put in time-out, and she fully deserved it. She was not listening and not being safe. Ms. Diana’s goal is to teach children to save themselves and not take the risks of the water lightly. She teaches tough love, but is not unkind. She may not be for everyone, but she will teach your child to swim a lot faster than anyone else and that is the goal. You can tell Ms. Diana loves the children, but she also demands respect as any parent should demand from their child. The children I observed appeared to enjoy the different languages she threw out there and her quirky behavior. The pool was no messier than my pool is by the end of the day, and probably 100 children swim in the pool every day. I have never seen any poop in the walkway, but it is her back yard and she has a dog, so it is possible but not abnormal. Ms. Diana is a wonderful teacher and we are very thankful that our daughter is learning to swim so quickly from her while also gaining confidence. As I stated, Ms. Diana is not for everyone, but I appreciate her frankness, honesty, directness, and matter-of-fact attitude.
Diana Perry is a true treasure in San Antonio. My daughter began swim lessons at age 18 months with a different teacher and after 2 summers, she still had no swimming or water survival skills. When she was 3, we tried another recommended swim teacher and after 10 sessions without any improvement, I signed her up with Diana that same summer and she began swimming the first week. After the 10 day course, she was able to swim to the wall and pull herself out. She is back with Diana this summer at age 4 and I’m blown away by my daughters progress after 3 classes. My 3 yr old son, who had never taken swim lessons previously, took classes with her this summer and excelled! He loves the water now and before swim lessons, I had a hard time even putting water on his head during bath time. For the negative reviews, people need to remember that nothing in life works for everyone (adults and children). It is also important that children realize bad behavior has repercussions like time out. The lessons Diana teaches go beyond swimming and there need to be more people like her in the world. Her love of children is seen immediately and her patience is impressive. I cannot recommend her more!
