I found High Style Painting to be professional, with great follow up and follow through. The three paint projects were completed sooner than anticipated. One area of repair has a small texture irregularity but with a 1923 home it blends in with the overall character. Personable, well priced, clean job site, attentive, clear communication. Will hire again!
I noticed my neighbor having his vinyl siding cleaned and walked over to talk to the worker on the job about doing my north side of my home, which had a great deal of mold growing on it. My attempts of the past to remove it had failed. A gentleman named Ed from High Style Painting was doing the work and mentioned they could do my siding for me. I requested an estimate and Ed did it on site. The price was better than I expected, but the job ended up being even better. My 35 year old vinyl siding looked like new. The bill came soon after and was as estimated. I’m very happy with the whole job from beginning to end.
TL:DR: I had a terrible and disappointing experience with High Style Painting. Without exaggeration I would not recommend and regret they were even recommended. They thought my house was a dump and that I wouldn't notice the quality of their work. I had to hire a new contractor to complete the job. The crew was poorly trained, and Jorge insulted and shamed me when I asked for better results. Initially personable but not professional. After sharing my concerns publicly, I realized I wasn’t being picky. Reddit link. They seemed eager to work but had poor workmanship. The pictures provide a better review than my words. Jorge stood behind his shoddy work and expected to be fully paid. I wholly regret giving him $1200 for poor work instead of paying only for materials. He did poor work, insulted us, raised his voice, yet we STILL paid him to leave Living room and hallway: When asked, Jorge said they were finished (after 2-3 days) but for me to put tape on the areas that needed fixing. I took pictures and marked the walls. There were blotches all over, uneven coats, terrible mud and texture repair (despite knowing it’s difficult to match texture), dripping/dried paint and paint spread with a dry roller. My floors had not been cared for - mud and paint was everywhere. A few days later when I told and showed Jorge what I thought needed to be fixed, he very earnestly said he would make it better and wouldn't stop until we were satisfied. He said he had noticed a few issues but that it was hard to stay on top of his guys and blamed poor lighting in my house(??). Then he said that my expectations were too high (I assume he thought I didn't deserve quality workmanship?) It was an egregious response followed by a comment about how it was a lot of work for them to mud, texture, and paint (which was in their quote) and that he was trying to save me money. When asked why he made no effort to clean up the spills on the floor his response was that I told him I'd be replacing the floors soon. I had him hold off on coming back for some days. In the meantime, 4 other contractors came to give me a quote to fix what had been done and complete the job afresh. Each one was surprised about the state of work and said they wouldn't pay for it if they were in my shoes. They were also curious about who recommended Jorge, if he was the lowest quote, a new painter with no experience, or what? They were trying to understand how I’d hired a professional and yet at first glance and closer inspection they could see so many blaring issues. I had Jorge come one final time to gather his things. I had my mother there with me as it is her house. We did another walkthrough with Jorge, pointing out his own revisions to the work of his employees and in so many words saying that we could have done this ourselves. He said we were just saying we weren’t satisfied so that he wouldn’t get paid and that he had other clients who did the same thing. He only quoted one coat of paint. He’s a child of God, but wasn’t sure we were, and that was on us for how we were acting but that God was watching(??). We kept telling Jorge it wasn’t about the money but the quality of the work. My mom patiently pointed out the issues, asking why he painted before ensuring the walls were primed and ready. That was the bigger issue, not only quoting one coat of paint. We would have gladly paid for additional materials if needed after the walls were primed properly. Instead, we had to pay more to fix and start anew. Jorge said he was trying to save us money. We weren’t sure why he brought God into the conversation or said we weren’t his children, as if to shame us for his bad work. My mom only planned to pay for materials (we were never supplied receipts), but the conversation dragged on for an hour, and Jorge started raising his voice about being paid for the work he had done. I got nervous because it seemed he didn’t plan on leaving, so I went to get some cash and gave it to him. It wasn’t the full quoted amount, but it was enough for him to gather his things and leave.
These guys were great! Accommodating, communicative, kind, fast and great to work with overall. They sanded any stained our deck and I think it looks great. There were a few hiccups on my end trying to pick the right color stain and everyone was patient and super helpful. I'd work with High Style Painting again for future projects. For anyone wondering, our deck is made of AC2® 5/4 x 6 x 8' Above Ground Green Pressure Treated Thick Decking and we used Sherwin Williams "Natural" transparent stain.
High Style Painting created a new and updated look for our faded and tired metal home exterior and front door. We had several quotes and chose Jorge and his team for the value and timely manner the job was to be completed. Jeobany, Jorge, and their team power washed, removed shutters, and prepped the house for painting. The spray painting was complete in just a few hours. Their attention to detail made for a successful project. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thank you High Style Painting!
