Had such a great time at this escape room. It was really fun, well thought out, and run so smoothly. Connie and Brianna were lovely and made the whole experience even better. Also wanted to give a massive shout out to Mumim, who’s just left the business (Ledgend member of staff). You can really tell the care and effort that went into making this place what it is. Would definitely recommend!
Loved our visit to Houdini’s to play the HMS titanic. It was our games masters first time and he did an amazing job. Tom - we wish you all the best and hope to see you when we return to try Tomb Raider. The staff were super friendly and made our experience an enjoyable one.
We attended as a pair for the peaky finders escape room and appear to have had a similar experience to the previous review with the same faults not being addressed. When we walked into the first room and opened a door the host re-entered the room to say that it shouldn’t have been open and had to close it. There were then times when the battery in the torch was dying so things to look for couldn’t be seen unless the torch was literally touching it and the music playing was so loud the instructions couldn’t be heard. Then once through one part the host kept repeating that we needed to read a sign and follow the instructions. When we stated several times that we were both physically unable to read the sign from the distance and it was impossible to get any closer they eventually stated that they would open the door remotely, they tried this several times with no joy and they eventually opened the door for us but by now several minutes had passed which was frustrating as we kept explaining that we understood we needed to read the instructions however they could not be seen with the distance and lighting and it being impossible to get any closer. There were also locks not opening but not down to the user but the equipment and again the torch would be needed but the batteries were dying and the light was not strong enough to use again and the same applied to the laser pen which kept flickering on and off and not working. The use of modern technology (which didn’t work anyway) also took away from the actual theme of a 1920’s game as well. Considering the hefty price for two players midweek and the overall experience this is not an escape experience that I would recommend unfortunately as it certainly didn’t live up to the expectations.
We were really disappointed with our recent trip to play the newest game at Star City - Sneaky Finders. We’ve played Houdini's rooms before and have always found them to be really good. This one, however, fell far short of the standard we’ve come to expect. We have played over 100 rooms in total and this one is by far one of the worst rooms we've ever played! The theming and general look of the game is excellent, but that was as good as it got. During the game, we encountered multiple faults, including magnetic locks not opening and a laser pointer not functioning. As a result, this completely spoiled the experience and it was impossible to play the game in full. At one point, when a door wouldn't open, the games host had to come into the room (everyone's pet peeve) and escort us through the back corridors of Star City into another part of the game! The lacklustre staff employed at the venue also did not help with the situation, repeating clues to us when there was clearly an issue with the maintenance of the room rather than our comprehension. We appreciate that sometimes rooms just break – nothing can be done about this, but the experience doesn’t have to be totally ruined. In this instance the games host showed no remorse for our terrible experience and gave us a generic Star City email address for our complaint (we are still waiting to hear back). The icing on the cake was the auto-generated 'you almost made it out' email we received afterwards... We have been totally put off by this experience and will not be visiting a Houdini's again. Definitely wouldn't recommend the Star City branch for sure!
really good and really fun our game master was Connie, she was so lovely I think one of the best game masters I’ve ever had and I have done a lot of escape rooms. she was so lovely and I would definitely go back, good clues that actually help us. 10/10 would definitely recommend thankyou x
