Horrible experience here. Pros: the 2 front desk ladies were pleasant and helpful (when they were there). Cons: No one ever seems to be working the front/phones. We called multiple days, different times, multiple times a day, and no one answered the phone. But worse than that was our "senior tax pro" Nadeese White. Please avoid her. She just has no idea what she's doing, easily distracted, inefficient with her time/work, and (unintentionally) rude (she would constantly make rude or inappropriate comments, but I don't think she meant it - she was pleasant enough). In short, we confirmed via another H&R tax pro that she entered our info wrong in multiple ways, did unnecessary forms, and would have gotten us not only $700 less in federal refund, but would have forced me to pay in to VA by a few grand. Detailed experience: We dropped our paperwork off on Sat, came back at our scheduled day/time 4 days later, she pulled us back almost 20min late, and she not only missed one of my W2s (which she accused me of never giving to her, yet she had it scanned with my other W2), she also didn't understand the state tax on my other W2 (military exemption). She kept asking us what we wanted to do, we didn't know what she was talking about, she couldn't explain herself bc she didn't even know, and she even looked at my husband and laughed saying I just wasn't getting it. We left after an hour of back and forth, having accomplished nothing, bc she said she'd work on it and we could return in a few days to sign. 4 days later, we return, she did literally none of the tax return, and continued to make unnecessary comments about her not knowing we had been put on her schedule, among other rude and prying comments (e.g. when we asked how long it'd take for her to finish everything so we could sign, she got annoyed and asked why we wanted to get out of there - what was so important we had to leave? We had a dinner reservation and expected to sign everything in 30min to an hr, not waste an hr so she could try finishing everything and then have us return another time to sign). We left, having been patient and courteous each time we met with her, and were lucky enough to have another H&R pro at another location correct everything.
Made filing my taxes quick and easy. They helped me file for my solar reimbursement and helped me set up my taxes for my home of record. They also gave me information on other things I can claim as write offs that I didn't know about. Overall great experience and the whole process only took an hour and a half with no stress.
The middle age black receptionist was rude, nasty and disrespectful. I will never get my taxes done here due to her behavior. I would love to give 5 stars because Abigail is amazing!
The only reason I gave this score was because of Latisha the woman who did my taxes. I had them done last year with turbo tax and it was simply the worst experience I have ever had with my taxes. When I came to H&R block with my boyfriend and saw how simple she made it for him , I immediately came back the next day to have her do mine as well. Any questions I had, she answered fully and was very informative. She would be the only reason I come back next year. You need to promote her or give her a raise but either way , she should be recognized. I am very confident about my return and to get my taxes done next year with her.
My wife and I have been going to H&R Block for 12 years now and have been seeing Laura Best also for 12 years! We have never had any issues and have made a life long friendship with her since. We first started out at the Norfolk office off of Popular Hall Dr. until Laura Best moved to the Chesapeake office off of Sams Dr. which we moved with her just to be with her. She knows us very well and takes care of us and we always feel safe and secure every tax season that every thing is taken care of and even we are taken care of. We love the piece of mind and never ever had any issues from the IRS! She is very knowledgeable and experienced with all the tax laws and is always able to answer our questions and prepares us for next year. She is very friendly as well as everyone that we see working at and with H&R Block. The office is always clean and always informs us every year to remind us of making appointments and very flexible if we need to reschedule. Highly recommended tax firm!
