We have been coming to Hyde Park Vet since our first cat and have excellent service from them. Teegan and the front desk team are very nice and enjoy the animals. Dr. Yackel and the vet team are knowledgeable and kind to us and our cats. They all seem like a good people.
I am so thrilled to have found a new vet for my Nattie girl! She has a history of being reactive, so trying to establish her somewhere new is always a high anxiety situation for me, even with how much progress she’s made. Hyde Park Vet Clinic made the entire first visit as smooth as possible!! They knew exactly how to navigate my dog’s anxiety, answered all my questions and concerns without judgement, and even helped me figure out a specific plan to fit my budget and still take care of everything Nattie needed. Dr. Crepps was so kind and explained everything so thoroughly, and so genuinely encouraged me as a young pet parent. I can’t wait to continue bringing Nattie back as needed in the future.
Super friendly staff!! They were very compassionate with my nervous cats, and provided a thorough, gentle exam. I have already told my family how much I loved Dr. Yackel & will be back for all our future veterinary needs!
Dr. Shanna Yackel has been very kind to me and accommodating for my cat, Peaches, who does *not* like the vet, for two visits now — the staff are friendly and understanding of how animals behave, and the prices are reasonable. The vet’s recommendations led her to be calmer at checkups and a healthier weight. Can’t put a price on a happy cat — thanks HPVC!
Finding a new vet. Took my great Dane here for 6 years. She had been experiencing leg pain and apparently the path to evaluate is X-rays, which requires anesthesia. I tried to drop her off and had a muzzle on her (they provide, normally she does not use this but since I was going to leave her I thought it best), leash and collar. They said she had to have a small nylon cord that will choke her and will be impossible to control her with (she is powerful). I told them that she won't be wearing that (because it will choke her and is impossible to control her with it. It also tightens on her neck as she pulls). They wanted me to stay while she was put under and told me if they were to let her out of the cage they would be using the nylon choke leash later. Or she had to stay in he cage. New Dr every couple of visits. They don't seem able to handle large dogs well. I only trust one staff member with my dog, he is great. Apparently they feel a small nylon cord that will choke my dog and will be impossible to control her with or leaving her in a cage without letting her out is the best path for her. They told me slip leads are required in Ohio and while I'm not a lawyer a quick googling of this statement would indicate it's not true. I would assume having the dog controllable and not being choked would be the preferred approach, apparently not. Edit: What a hilarious response. So your two doctors have been practicing since 2023, less than two years means no consistency in care. The only people nervous about this interaction was your staff. And no I don't want to stay and help you with care I'm paying for (when I have a job to get to) because you can't handle a dog because you wanted to leash her in a impossible manner to control her. The only person urging that my dog would be controllable (and thus safe) was me suggesting your small nylon lead (that chokes her) was not a good approach. You told me it was state law. Also laughable that you are now suggesting that you were willing to keep her collar and leash on - that is a flat out lie and the root of the problem I was having with the slip collar. But clearly you all are trying to backtrack on the facts here. For anyone reading please understand this is a great Dane, know as gentle giants. This dog is a sweetheart. But when given the option of a operating table or front door she's going to head towards the door. Thus my concern about the slip lead they were mandating. Adding a picture of her having her nails done. Clearly a problem dog. Second edit: I took scarlet to a different vet today to discuss her leg. This vet got down and worked her leg, something neither of the vets at Hyde Park did despite me expressing concerns about her leg over multiple visits. The other office felt 95% confident in identifying the problem (ligament damage and arthritis) without X-rays. I asked if X-rays would help in this diagnosis and the response was yes for a variety of reasons, but 95% confidence and a thorough examine prior to jumping to a very expensive x-ray session would have been nice to see at Hyde Park. A treatment/care plan is in place after one visit at the other vet. I can say with confidence I am very happy I went somewhere else.
