Throughout my life, I have gone through bullying, physical abuse, social anxiety, and depression. I lost myself in media in order to fill the hole that is my past (I.e. philosophical teachings, movies, shows, video games, etc.). In doing so, I realized that my emotions and thoughts had not gone away. 3 and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness known as POTS, which is a syndrome in which the body is unable to regulate it’s blood pressure. Symptoms include chronic headache, chronic fatigue, body aches, gut and motility issues, and depression. I was lost within myself. When I happened upon Irvine meditation, I immediately resonated with the teaching philosophy. It was my hope to convert my suffering into a blessing. I have been doing meditation for 7 months now and I have been able to recognize my attachment to my self centered and stubborn nature. I highly recommend this practice for anyone, no matter how big or small their issues may seem, and I am grateful that I get a chance to experience the true world.
