Not my first time coming here. My partner and I come here repeatedly because it’s that good! Food is amazing, drinks are great and service is out of this world. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
A last minute walk-in for some takeaway before the restaurant closed resulted in one of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had. The ‘Cali Street Burrito’ with ‘Pork Al Pastor’ filling was super tasty, and the ‘Street Fries’ were fantastic. Never caught, what I assumed to be, the managers name but he was very polite and kind enough to let us order minutes before closing and we still got a fresh meal. It’s a shame this isn’t my local as I would be eating here frequently!
We stopped in for a meal between Movies at JFF at Palace cinemas. Both meals were delicious. I had nachos which I rarely order as most places don't do decent ones, but these were delicious. Their shredded beef is really good. My partner had enchiladas which was also really nice. The meal portions are quite large for the price. Their Jalapeno poppers are yummy also, with a bit of spice kick to them (not overly hot to spoil the experience). Service was great, fast and attentive and very friendly. Drinks and meals all came very quickly. Also they do good margaritas according to my partner! Well worth a visit if you like this kind of food. We will be coming back next time we're out this way!
Went there on a relatively quiet night, food was bland, which was quiet disappointing and took near 40 minutes to come out. Everything needed more salt, it was if there was none used, consume on the Burris tacos needed to be reduced as it was watery, empanadas texture was not pleasant. Even using a hot sauce it wasn't really salvageable. Specifics ordered the mini taquitos, chicken tacos, birtia tacos and empanadas
Went to La Carmela for dinner on a Tuesday night to try their $3 taco deal. Just to note: the tacos have to be ordered in threes, so it’s really $9 for three tacos. But no complaints because they were fantastic and still a great deal. We tried the beef, pork, and chicken (fish tacos aren’t part of the deal) and all were delicious. My personal favourite was the chicken tacos, loaded with salsa and guacamole, super tasty. The vibe inside La Carmela is colourful, lively, and welcoming. The service was fast and friendly, and the tacos came really quick after we ordered. I’d recommend going earlier in the evening as it fills up quickly; when we walked past again later it was packed. Also worth being mindful on game nights at Suncorp Stadium as the whole street gets very busy. Overall, loved the food and atmosphere and will definitely be back next time we’re in Brisbane!
