We didn’t visit the restaurant and ordered delivery instead. I’ll be honest—I ordered the calzone and wouldn’t personally recommend it, as it had a slightly strange taste for me. However, you absolutely can’t fault the freshness of the ingredients. My partner is a professional chef and said his pizza was one of the best he’s had. Even down to the basil on top, you can tell everything is fresh. The base is the perfect balance of chewy, crispy, and crunchy, and the tomato sauce tastes incredibly fresh and homemade. The Parmesan aroma was quite strong (I’m pregnant, so that may be on me!), but again, it’s clear that it was very fresh and high quality. Both portions were massive and excellent value for money, and the pizza itself was genuinely delicious. I would definitely recommend this place without a doubt, and I can imagine the focaccia they sell would be absolutely top notch.
We liked the Ortolana pizza and thought that the portion was generous. They have an elaborate bar, so drinks were all good. We ordered a Mojito and an Espresso Martini. The tiramisu was great. Olynda and Shruti (apologies if I am spelling the names wrong) gave us a warm welcome, good chat, and also helped us with our orders. The bread with olivr oil before the meal was good but felt unnecessary. The fried bread was good. The oil was fruity, punchy, and had lots of goodness. The white bread, though, felt chewy and did not have the right texture. The table for two was too tiny. We will go back for sure!
L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele is the famous pizza chain featured in Julia Roberts’ movie, Eat Pray Love. This location on King Street in Manchester is their only UK location outside of London, and is located in a stunning building on King Street, which was previously occupied by Zizzi. I’ve visited here a couple of times now and ordered delivery. Food is generally made up to a good standard, my favourite being the Gluten-Free Diavolo Pizza. The gluten-free pizzas are very large, perhaps a little too big, the base and toppings are good quality and have nice flavours. It can be a little pricey here with all the add-ons; it’s £3 extra for gluten-free pizza or pasta; it’s always frustrating to have to pay more, but I understand it does have additional costs for them. There is also a £2.50 mandatory cover charge, which covers bread and oil. Due to being gluten-free, I was given olives instead. I didn’t touch them, as I don’t like olives, but this added charge was added anyway. I know there is sometimes a 12.5% service charge added too, although I wasn’t charged this on my most recent visit, so it’s possible they replaced this with the cover charge. I have had the Carbonara from here on previous visits, which is also pretty good, although I’ve had better, and parts of the pasta can be slightly dry and undercooked, but perhaps this was an issue with ordering for delivery. I love the old building and how they’ve decorated the place with the art; however, it always seems so quiet whenever I visit, which makes the atmosphere feel a little odd. The staff are all super friendly and have a good knowledge of allergens, and I felt confident eating here, knowing I’d be taken care of. Overall, the pizzas here are good, perhaps a little expensive, and I may stick to ordering delivery in the future, especially for the pizzas, rather than dining in, but it’s certainly a venue I plan to order food from again.
Under cooked cheese, under cooked overall pizza. I understand they was ready to go home as i made the order on uber eats before 3 minutes they closing. Messed up the pizza like this i know it’s not they’re fault, its the driver fault. But if people pay for the pizza please try to make that properly.
We had an excellent experience at Pizzeria San Michele in Manchester. Everything was top-notch – the food was delicious, the place beautifully designed and decorated, with a calm and pleasant atmosphere. A special mention goes to our waitress Yolanda – such a wonderful person: kind, attentive, always with a smile. She was extremely professional, polite, friendly, and made us feel truly welcome. She gave us great recommendations and made sure throughout the dinner that we were enjoying ourselves. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return!
