I began fitness training fall of 2025. I was impresses by the level of personal attention I received and the knowledge concerning fitness and movement as I was looking to improve my mobility as I am about to reach the age of 70. Marina was patient and a joy to work with during my time there. I would highly recommend LARK and Marina to anyone with fitness goals the wish to meet.
Many years of solely running left me in need of building body strength to prevent injury and improve overall health. Karli taught me new exercises and instructed me in both proper form and how to increase load. With her patient (and fun!) expertise I have gained the skills needed to improve my performance. I can also handle life’s chores with more ease and stability. I highly recommend Karli!
I've been working with Lark & personal trainer Karli since Summer of 2024, and just want to come on here and keep spreading the love. So I'm 40 now, dx with autoimmune arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis) in my 20s, and I was actually dx soon after I started getting physically active for the first time in my life as a nerd. The dx itself was devastating and a long journey, but one of the worst elements of it was how much I grew to mistrust and hold fear around using my body, right when I had just started to love moving it for the first time. I've always disliked gyms, love dancing and being outside, but every time I would try to get back in shape or exercise on my own, I would boomerang into a flare. Over time, I got so tentative, fearful, and stressed out about moving my body that I often gave up - then I entered a high stress PhD program and realized I needed serious help to figure out how to move past that fear and do healthy movement for my body, or I wouldn't be able to make it through my program. Through community recs (even from profs in my PhD program!) and online research, I found Lark, and Karli, and she was incredible - kind, funny, grounded, and vastly knowledgeable. Specifically, her level of knowledge meant that as we started our work together she was able to offer modifications and adjustments to movements that caused pain, roll with and always listen carefully to where I was, and gently work with me and my fear through flares until after a long adjustment period, my fear lifted. I started to trust my body again, and that has continued. We've now transitioned into virtual work where I follow her workout routines at my own gym (never thought I would say that phrase!!), and I feel like I'm finally building healthy muscle, endurance, and energy, which is so important for continued health w my condition. I know what to do when I flare, and I trust myself and my body to keep coming back. Our next step will be for me to build my own workout routines based on the education I received at Lark, and then Karli and me will end our work together (their transition process away from their care has been amazing). If you're needing personalized and knowledgeable work, and if you're able to swing the larger price tag (full disclosure, I borrowed a bit from family to help me - it felt important enough, and the price also ensures you get deeply qualified professionals), it is massively worth what you get in return. To Lark & Karli, thank you so much for everything 💖💖
I can’t recommend the Lark highly enough! When I first started, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I had never done weigh training before, but I knew I wanted to get into better shape and recover more thoroughly from a past ankle injury. Training with Marina has been nothing short of amazing – she takes such care to explain each exercise and talk through various effort/energy levels. She also creates programs that incorporate enough variety to keep things interesting but enough consistency that I can really track my progress. Most importantly, she and all the trainers there make the Lark a really welcoming and friendly community to be a part of. Now that I more frequently join the group sessions, it’s clear how all of the trainers take everyone’s personal fitness journey really seriously, and they are so committed to helping you achieve your goals. If you are looking for a positive and inclusive community to help support you through your own fitness journey, whatever that might be, the Lark is it!!
Over the last few years I’ve worked with many different professionals to be able to run post-childbirth, and while all have been helpful, none of them helped me gain lasting change. I heard great things about Lark from friends, and was hesitantly hopeful I'd get closer to my running goal. I started with Karli this summer and recently completed a half marathon. Karli is detail-oriented, encouraging, attentive, and a great teacher. Her holistic perspective has made all the difference for my return to running, and her ability to both affirm and challenge those she works with is such a strength. Would recommend to anyone without reservation!
