I love maíz molino because they have purple tortillas that remind me of my childhood. El guarache will be the best meal of your life. Matter of fact, I love all of the businesses on 6th & Bell!!
What a great place to get Mexican food that specializes in mole. Their duck confit one was amazing! So many great flavors. The halibut dish was out of this world, I really love the plantains! The flan cheesecake was so unique I could eat two of them! Overall, super friendly service and great atmosphere, I highly recommend and it would come back.
What a cute restaurant! Stepping inside takes me back to Mexico. Such vibrant colors and decor. The staff were super nice and helpful being that it was our first time. The portions are huge here. We ordered the chilaquiles with duck and pozole for brunch. They also served their regular lunch menu at brunch too. Everything was very tasty and the pozole was full of meat too. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the cafe de olla. It would be a good choice for anyone who likes their coffee on the sweeter side with a strong cinnamon flavor.
I am not authoritative about what is authentic Mexican food but this food was tasty, interesting, and not what I would call "standard" Mexican food in the U.S. The gorditas were flavorful and the tortillas were purple, and quite tasty. The portions were generous and my friend had La Vegana which was a good vegetarian dish for him. The horchata latte was sooo good. I may go back just to have another. The staff was so friendly. We hadn't been there before and they patiently explained the menu, and how to order.
Had a nice Thursday dinner with some friends at this Maiz location. Chips could have been saltier and our entrees could have been a bit spicier, but overall the Mexican food options we tried were tasty. Prices were high (there's a default service charge which is not a tip), and service was ok at best (pretty slow throughout.) But - my margaritas were great and the corn tortillas fantastic.
