This is a great boxing gym! I stopped by for a drop-in self-training on Saturday (9/27). I was in Philadelphia as a volunteer judge for the Empire State Mock Trial High School National Competition that afternoon and Sunday morning. The facility is amazing and I saw one of the kids classes and a small adult group class. Incredible! The gym is a hybrid hardcore boxer gym AND public-friendly neighborhood training gym. I am a member of the Morris Park Boxing Club in the Bronx (Aaron Davis, Owner). I was able to get a great workout in. The staff is friendly and members are hard workers and great to train with.

I cannot say enough great things about this boxing gym. When I joined last year, I had zero boxing experience, but Maleek, Coach Fiz, and Coach Dan made the journey both approachable and exciting. They are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also patient and genuinely passionate about the sport. The energy in the gym is contagious—it pushes you to give your best every time you step in. Coach Fiz, in particular, goes above and beyond for every member, showing a level of dedication to boxing that is truly inspiring. I am proud to be part of this community.

Amazing community with so many knowledgeable trainers and a very welcoming environment! Coach Dan, Maleek, and Fiz are all amazing. I knew absolutely nothing about boxing walking in as a female I felt intimidated but these guys made me feel at home. They treat me like one of the guys and push me to my limits. Close knit family feeling when you walk into the gym! Maleek’s story is really amazing filled of trials and tribulations resulting in such a powerful and positive impact giving back to the community and youth of Philly. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for community, an extremely killer workout, and improving mental and physical health. Boxing here has truly impacted my life in such a great way and I can’t wait to see how much I can learn!

I’ve trained combat sports for almost 20 years and Coach Fiz has been the best coach I’ve ever worked with. His knowledge of boxing and true love for the sport really shows in his coaching. If you’re looking for a place to really grow your skills this is the place.

This gym is a great place for supportive community members to get together. There is a variety of members from those who want a fun and unique workout to those who want to train like fighters and compete. Coach Fiz is a wonderful coach and mentor who customizes his classes to all levels and spends a great deal of time considering each fighters strengths and weaknesses to build up their skills and confidence with sincerity. If you are considering trying out a class at this gym- go for it! You might feel intimidated but will quickly realize how welcoming of a group is waiting for you.

City Fitness - Fairmount offers a clean, convenient gym with friendly staff and easy-to-use equipment. Reviewers praise the Thrive circuit-training program and the energetic, knowledgeable trainers—Lexos, Natasja, and McGovern—within a supportive, community-driven environment.
