I've been taking songwriting lessons with Ciara for about 8 months and it's been a wonderful experience. She is a very skilled and insightful musician, and I've made huge leaps in my songwriting because of her help! MMS as a whole is such a great community, they put on lots of fun events throughout the year and I've met so many lovely people through them. I definitely recommend MMS for anyone looking for music lessons in the city or online.

I have been taking guitar lessons at McAllister for several months now, and it has been such a wonderful experience! I have been learning so much from my music teacher Anna, who make sure to tailor the lessons to my interests- she’s so awesome to work with! And it is a really great community, they have open mics and recitals where you can meet other students and teachers and be a part of some wonderful music experiences! I highly recommend taking music lessons at McAllister!

We love MMS! Our daughter loves going to the studio and is challenged and inspired by her teacher, Christian. He is so great with her - she loves practicing, improving and working with him. We even increased our lessons to twice a week. Not only is Christian a great teacher but the whole community is incredible. We have met so many other families while hanging out in the studio space, and have connected with other families. Our daughter gets to perform at amazing venues throughout the city multiple times a year as well. The teachers, staff and admin at MMS are helpful, supportive and so lovely and fun to be around. We love it here!

Our son has been with McAllister Music Studio and with teacher Anna Hillburg for the past 4-5 years. Anna is not only a great teacher but a gifted musician. My son feels lucky to be learning from her. She inspires a love of music by keeping lessons fun. Anna keeps him on track with musical growth while letting him choose songs that are fun to him. Our entire family enjoys all of the performance opportunities -- both laid back and more formal --afforded to the students and families. This school is really a special community!

We couldn’t think more highly of McAllister Music. The experience our son has there is a combination of structure/rigor with equal parts fun/creativity. One thing mcallister does especially well is the music shares. These are casual performances either at the bottom of the hill club or just outside the studio on 22nd St. These are an opportunity for students to perform music in a lower pressure situation. There is also an annual recital at Noe Valley ministry with a beautiful grand piano that feels like a big deal. The most important part of McAllister Music is that they are able to hire and retain top quality teachers, something I imagine is only becoming more difficult to do in San Francisco. I couldn’t imagine a better teacher for our son than Anna!
