I liked Melao and they have good coffee and great food. The arroz con gandules is great, but the only thing is the staff is a bit disorganized. They got my order wrong and it seems they need to be more in sync with each other to know who's next and who orders what. Maybe because I went on a Sunday afternoon, could have contributed to the disorder. Other than that, they're helpful and it's a big,. spacious place with good ambience.
We adore this place and visit often when we’re in Orlando. We took my mom here; she never had hispanic food before. We spent a lot of time looking at the options and my husband translating her questions. They were very patient and kind to us. There is a lot of food options and the price is affordable for the quantity and quality.
Getting off the plane and coming straight here was probably one of the best things I decided for this trip. Came in and it was packed but was able to order within 5 minutes and the cashier was super friendly. Ordered some of the best alcapurrias that were coming out fresh as I was ordered. The masa was seaboard perfectly and every bite had ground beef, they don’t skimp out on the filling here! The breakfast sandwich was pretty good with the eggs well seasoned and the bread being soft and toasted nicely. The pastries were flaky and filled with a good amount. Definitely will be coming back when I’m in the area.
For people who grew up eating this food, this place is a gem for them. For me, I’d rather eat Jamaican food because I think the flavors are much stronger. I liked this food and the prices are good as the portions are large but I won’t be back more than likely. Kind service as well.
I gave three stars because all the segments could be better. The tropical food options are predictable. Food tasty and right condiments. Size options containers offered. Prices are going up but still affordable for a very satisfying meal. I had boiled yuca, maduro plantains, and beef ribs. One of the ribs was gummy, like undercooked. It is a popular type of restaurant were people just go to eat plenty, good, and affordable but not cheap.
