I’ve taken multiple classes at MCP and can’t wait to take more. The gifted teachers are encouraging and incredibly patient. The space is big and well-organized, with multiple wheels and kilns, and room for hand building, group and individual instruction, and open studio work. Fees are highly reasonable. Best of all is the community of committed artists and eager students, making for a little world that’s funky, inspiring, and chill! Highly recommended.

I took a refresher 6 week course on the wheel this summer (2025). Through the years, I have taken classes at several studios in the area, and this is the best experience I have had. The instructors (and owner Brian) are knowledgable and guided us through various techniques and forms with patience and encouragement. I received the best technical instruction I have ever had in any previous class. I highly recommend this studio.

I took a introductory wheel class with my 13yo homeschooler. We had a blast from the first day 'til the last. In particular, we enjoyed the way most of instruction was done... with out hands on clay watching the instructor demonstrate the new skill. We both went from having no previous throwing experience to being able to what the instructor called "intentional throwing" where we start with a clear end goal in mind, and work towards it step by step. We loved the instructor and the feel of the class and the space. We will be taking another class again soon. Also, our house is now decorated with lots of great pieces that we made in the class.

I’ve taken two six week clay courses with MCP and I had a wonderful experience both times. The studio environment is welcoming, fun, and nonjudgmental. I felt super comfortable as a complete beginner and the instruction was really helpful to building up my skills and confidence at the wheel. The studio owner, Brian, is an exceptional teacher!

Midwest Clay Project is a welcoming, inclusive environment for potters of all levels! My partner and I took the Wheel 1 class and were impressed with the structure of the class and the support given. Our instructor, Leo, and the owner of the studio, Brian, were accommodating when we needed flexibility and went above and beyond to make sure we got what we wanted out of the class. Could not recommend MCP enough!
