Our meal at Monty’s was INCREDIBLE. I cannot recommend the crawfish etouffe or the shrimp po boy enough. But the highlight of our visit? Our server Tuti! She was the sweetest, most personable yet also professional. She was a ray of sunshine in our visit and we can’t wait to come back again. Monty’s and Tuti were five Star, top tier!
I got the eggs Benedict and chose cheese grits for the side. The cheese grits were a bit chalky even though I was told it was cheddar. The English muffin was thin and delicious. The ham was tasty. The hollandaise sauce missed the mark. I asked for some lemon and sort of doctored it up. We also go the burger. It was average. It appeared to be hand made in house because the patty was oval shape, the fries that come with it were very good.
I had a fantastic experience at Monty’s on the Square! I tried the Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict on the recommendation of the staff, and it did not disappoint — perfectly crispy chicken with rich, flavorful gravy. Our server was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick without ever feeling rushed. The coffee was solid, which made the meal even better. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the French Quarter, making it easy to explore the area before or after your meal. I would definitely come back next time I’m in New Orleans — highly recommend!
I wanted to love this, TRULY I did. My son recommended this place to us and we made a special trip across the River to have brunch. The service was AMAZING, and the atmosphere was great but the food was mediocre at best. I will say though that the coffee was the best I think I’ve ever had and the King Cake beignets were absolutely delectable, definitely the highlight of the meal, but it went downhill from there. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict, and my hubby had the jambalaya omelet. The first bite was okay but it went from okay to no way really quickly. The food was just over warm and tasted more like reheated leftovers than freshly prepared just for us. The coffee and beignets are the main reason for the 2 stars and I’m tempted to even give 3 because of just how amazing they truly were, but we were STARVING and left hungry and had to go find something else so I’ll give a 2.5 and maybe give it another chance in the near future because their beignets really were that good. Sorry Monty, I really wanted to love you but you broke my heart and left me with a hungry tummy.
Amazing food in a great location! I got the chicken and waffles, and oh my gosh! They were AMAZING! I will be dreaming of this meal. The drinks and service were just as amazing as the food. I would definitely return.
