Husband and I went to Nick's for a lunch date around 11:30AM on a Saturday. We were seated and assisted promptly (though we noticed it did start to get busy when we left, about an hour later). Our server was polite and attentive without being overbearing. We ordered the fried deviled eggs for a starter--they were hearty and very tasty! We had 2 each, which was just the right amount. For our mains, he ordered the fried chicken, which came with 2 pieces of chicken, buttery mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, and a biscuit with country gravy. I ordered the bistro plate, which came with a 4oz filet, bistro side salad, soup of the day (which was French onion that day) and a crisp piece of garlic cheese toast. Everything was delicious--so rich and flavorful, perfect textures and portion sizes. One of the best restaurant meals I've had recently. For dessert, we ordered the warm butter cake. Absolute perfection. It came topped with a berry compote and vanilla ice cream--every bite was amazing. We didn't leave a single crumb behind. The price was, we felt, reasonable for the amount and quality of the food we ordered, but definitely in the "special occasion" category. I'd happily come back!

Simple Foods done right. Add the petite Bistro salad and the fried chicken. The buttermilk fried chicken is literally moist crunchy and delicious. Top it off with a buttermilk biscuit I got a just the way it should be dense moist and flaky. A must try one in Long beach.

Went to a reserved dinner tonite w/ husband. Nick's on 2nd is one of my favorite restaurants to go, but tonight (03/18/26) was the worst experience ever!! Sever (Steven) took over 15 minutes to even greet our table, saw him again when it was time to place the order. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive to the table, my center cut filet,( was ordered med/ well) arrived fully cook, bake potatoe was cold( even with all the toppings ordered on the side) San Francisco chopping was served warm. It was so underwhelming and the staff didn't seem to care about the countless mistakes being made. Just because your establishment is full doesn't mean QUALITY is being served. Simply disappointed in a restaurant that I once bragged about. Please bring back the old food and services!!
