been training here for a few years now, it's a small neighborhood school and many of the adult students live in the area, so it's very community oriented and people are genuine, respectful and kind. the school's origin is in kajukenbo lineage and while it has that toughness there's a nice balance between formal martial arts school and mma gym. it helps to know what you want to do and be able to communicate that, whether it's self defense or mobility or something specific. Sifu Michael's classes are creative, widely varied and often physically challenging (to your level of ability). Sifu Jason teaches a great Tuesday class that involves a deep range of knowledge of different modalities, and both instructors have an amazing ability of curating their teaching specifically for students of any skill or capability level. Fundamentals and concepts are always a focus. Sparring is on Sundays and serves as a nice test of the techniques. highly recommended.

I’ve been training martial arts at the school for about 5 years and sticking with it is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. The teachers are incredible! Sifu Micheal is a great martial artist and teacher. His classes always push me where I need to go. I get a great work out and always come away a stronger and better person. Sifu Jason’s Tuesday morning class is a great way to start my week. His classes are challenging and I always learn something. He has a wealth of martial arts experience and he loves to teach. On top of all this, the students and culture of the school is excellent. It’s supportive and friendly and everyone genuinely wants everyone else to improve in whatever they are striving for. I’ve trained martial arts off and on throughout my life and this is by far the best school I’ve come across.

This is an amazing gym with a welcoming familial vibe. I train here about 3x a week and have experienced an array of positive impacts in my life already. Mo duk pai, the martial arts form taught here, integrates many different kinds of standing and grappling techniques and I always learn something new in class, on top of getting a great work out. The instructors are great people and excellent teachers too — highly recommended!

Michael is one of the best teachers of children I have ever encountered, in ANY setting. My 6 year old son is very hard to wrangle, has ADHD, and a lot of trouble engaging with instructors/teachers who are too strict or too lenient. Michael walks that fine line, balancing firm and kind perfectly. I refer to him at home as the Mary Poppins of Martial Arts. I can't begin to express how grateful we are to have found this gem of a school. Update:Above still true...just more so. Love this MA school so much

I had some great martial arts teachers and some terrible ones when I was younger. I can say, without any hesitation whatsoever, that Michael is one of the best I've ever seen with kids. He manages to strike the perfect balance between physical and mental instruction, as well as balancing fun with discipline. I feel so very fortunate that my 9-year old daughter is in his class, and I wholeheartedly recommend him and his studio to other parents.
