I'm coming up on my three year anniversary of attending. I used to go 3-4 times a week and now I'm only able to go 3-4 times a month. But that matters very little because the price is excellent for the services provided and Kim is an absolute delight every time I go. I only take the women's cardio kickboxing class, but I've watched parts of other classes. They have a co-ed kickboxing class, many types of kids classes, and a variety of specific martial arts classes. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The venue has two mat covered flooring areas and a separate, very small gym. Multiple bathrooms and a water fountain. Plenty of equipment and equipment variety although things can get tight right after New Year's. For the women's cardio kickboxing class, new students are given gentle direction at first. They're monitored to see if they want/need more. Overall, you get as much out of it as you put in. You can also ask for specific instructions within the exercises. Kim breaks the class into rounds with non-repeating exercises. There's a 5-10 second break between exercises during the round and 30s-1min between rounds.

I started going to Octagon when I was 16. Working with David got me prepared to compete in the NCBA National Championship representing UNC a few years later. Going to Octagon and knowing Coach David immeasurably changed my life for the better. I could not recommend Octagon more.

Training with David is like assisting a scientist...he has an idea, add a little of this, add a little of that....tests it (me being the guinea pig), but if it doesn't feel right or react as expected, he pauses, gets this odd little look in his eyes and makes a facial expression I cannot quite describe (you guys who train with him know what I'm talking about) and in just a few seconds, he's got new "ingredients" for his potion and eureka, he has the results he was looking for. And for me what this all translates into are drills that are doable, quite different, most challenging and above, encourage my every one of my Rock Steady Boxing fighters to try something a little different, get stronger and feel good!!!! Last night we did a good amount of work with a slip line and we didn't just do the drills, but with every step, every position, David took the time to explain the importance of my stance, of my position down to explain why I stand so close to the slip line itself....now granted he explains from the standpoint of being a fighter and in an altercation with someone, but isn't every single person with Parkinson's in a fight, maybe not the same kind of find that David is talking about, but last night he made a point of saying to me, "Your people are in a fight, not with another person, but with their illness." I would say, this man "gets it." As a Rock Steady Boxing coach I am lucky to have David Stacy "in my corner."

Great coaches! My two boys (ages 9 and 10) started kickboxing and jiu jitsu here with absolutely no experience. From day one, the coaches made them feel welcome, confident, and excited to learn. The level of patience and motivation the instructors bring to every class is incredible. In just a few months, I’ve seen huge improvements! The environment is positive, structured, and fun, which keeps them looking forward to every session. I’m beyond thankful to all the coaches for their dedication and for helping my boys. Highly recommend this place to any parent looking to get their kids involved in martial arts the right way.

We've had such a positive experience with this kids' MMA program! My children have been training in both kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and the progress they've made—physically, mentally, and emotionally—has been amazing. The coaches are fantastic with kids: patient, encouraging, and skilled.
