Worth Every Minute of the Wait If you’re looking for a true San Francisco classic, Orphan Andy’s delivers in every possible way. Yes, the wait on New Year’s Day was a little long—but it was absolutely worth it. This small, no-frills diner in the heart of the Castro has all the charm you want in a neighborhood institution. The food was superb—comforting, flavorful, and cooked exactly the way diner food should be. Every bite reminded us why places like this endure. What really sets Orphan Andy’s apart, though, is the service. Sassy, friendly, and full of personality, the staff makes you feel like part of the scene rather than just another customer. It’s warm, unapologetically authentic, and refreshingly real. If you want great food, iconic Castro vibes, and service with attitude (in the best way), Orphan Andy’s is a must. We’ll gladly wait again.

Orphan Andy’s was an amazing experience from start to finish. The service was top notch with staff who were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The portions are huge and packed with flavor, definitely more than enough for a satisfying meal. The value for money is outstanding, especially considering the quality and size of the food. The location is really convenient and easy to get to, which makes it perfect for a casual stop while exploring the area. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. Honestly, everything about this place just works and I would go back in a heartbeat.

After a fun adventure with the ladies in the City we were so excited to try this diner out. The first thing we did was adore all the Christmas lights and take all the pics. Then after sitting down and ordering the yummiest 24 hour diner dinner we relaxed in the jolly atmosphere until our food arrived in less than 10 minutes. Not only is this place adorable, but the service and the food are top notch.

The ambience is cute. Lot's of decor. The nostalgic diner feel is definitely here. The service was ok. I don't understand their system but it hobbled along. The food was great. We got the cheeseburger 9/10. The mushroom burger 8/10. The cream cheese burger ( new 1 for me) 9/10. Super messy burger. Crazy prices. We also got the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. They were almost $20. Get out of town!! In all , for late night eats and diner food , it gets the job done.

My friends and I ate here for breakfast while visiting SF and our server was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He asked where we were visiting from and got us a map and circled places we should go and explained how to get there using public transit. He even took a picture of us in our booth! The food was pretty good and the portion sizes were great. I loved the atmosphere and decor as well! Definitely a place you should go if you’re visiting SF!
