What a beautiful hotel. We were looking for a bit of luxary to wind down after the festive period whilst travelling. Staff were lovely, tje hotel was gorgeous very well presented and clean. Rooms were very spacious. The bed was so comfortable, best night sleep we had in a hotel in a long time. The spa area was lovely, again very clean and lush relaxing vibe. Dinner was average, not a huge choice but nice. Breakfast was very good, a good variety to choose from whether you wanted hot cooked breakfast or cereal, pastries fruit etc.
Exceptional! After a very busy few weeks, Oulton Hall 'fed my soul' and switched the Christmas spirit on for me. The reception greeting and decor was exceptional - providing a real wow moment from the moment I arrived. I was treated like royalty - nothing was too much trouble for anyone (the staff were particularly attentive during breakfast). The hotel and the grounds were breathtaking and the view from my window of the sunrise in the morning was stunning. My visit felt magical and the bed in the suite was the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept on. I couldn't recommend this hotel any higher - in fact if there was a 6th star, i'd have selected it. Love, Love, Love this hotel!
We had a wonderful stay and couldn’t fault it. The hotel looked absolutely amazing at Christmas — beautifully decorated and with such a lovely festive atmosphere throughout. The food was delicious, clearly well prepared and presented, and really added to the overall experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. A great place to stay, especially over the festive period. We would definitely return and highly recommend it to others.
We were very excited to visit this hotel with my husband for a celebratory weekend away, but unfortunately left quite disappointed, as the hotel did not meet our expectations at all. The rooms are extremely dated and furnished with mismatched, random items. The glassware did not appear clean and everything required a thorough rinse before use. The towels were old and worn, and most frustratingly, there were no slippers or bathrobes provided in the room. This is the first spa hotel I have ever stayed in where these basics were not included or at least offered to be purchased as an extra. The spa area itself (swimming pool, sauna and steam room) was disastrous. The changing rooms looked as though they hadn’t had a deep clean in a very long time, and both the sauna and steam rooms were not even switched on, making them unusable, and the whole spa appeared neglected and poorly maintained. We found it hard to feel any sort of relaxation in there so left after 15 minutes. The best part of the hotel is the surrounding area, which is genuinely beautiful and picturesque. The bar area is also very pleasant, especially in the evening, and we received excellent service in the restaurant from Oliver, who offered great dinner options which we enjoyed. Aside from these few positives, the overall experience was underwhelming. This hotel is in serious need of refurbishment, proper maintenance and fully functioning facilities to justify its reputation and pricing.
