My girlfriend and I had been tried to visit Pasture several times last year but were never prepared enough so were always too late but this time we had the chance to book a couple of weeks in advance. We ate here after going to the theatre, visiting a couple of bars and it rounded off our date day absolutely wonderfully. Our server was called Monika and she was brilliant, very helpful with giving us enough time and helping us with the menu, over all a very friendly face. The food here was absolutely spectacular, it was well worth the wait. The Thai Green Muscles were delicious and a very interesting idea, I had scoped these out on the menu before hand and couldn't wait to try them. We had a sharing grill of fillet steak & monkfish which was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Our overall experience here was sensational and would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a classy but reasonably priced meal out!!!
Absolutely phenomenal service and food. We had high hopes when we booked but we were blown away by every detail. All of the staff are really friendly and a credit to the brand, but especially Veronica as she was our waitress. She is so knowledgeable, skilled and she couldn’t do enough for us. By far the best restaurant in Cardiff in my opinion.
So this review covers two areas, but don’t worry, they’re in the same place. First up is the Golden Circle, or Nightshade. Online it’s called Nightshade, but in the venue it’s Golden Circle. Either way, it’s the same place. This is a “secret”, not-so-secret speakeasy that I highly recommend you get into. We had three drinks, and I ordered a coconut milk drink which was… clear… but highly recommended. In fact, all the drinks we had were amazing. But the atmosphere was probably the best part. It’s genuinely one of the best speakeasy bars I’ve been to. I don’t know why, but the curved seats, all in a row, really made me feel like I was back in the 1920s. Proper Tommy gun and smoking-a-cigar vibes. The prices are pricey, but let’s be honest, you’re not stepping into this restaurant and bar because you’re looking after the pennies. Overall, for the bar, make sure you go. The staff were really helpful too. Now for the main event. Drum roll please!!! ….. You gonna eat meat? Well… you don’t have to. But you also don’t have to eat fish at a seafood restaurant, or maybe you don’t have to eat a pizza when you go to Domino’s… but that’s not to say you should. So yes, these people are the kings of lovely meats. And let’s get this out of the way now. Yes, it’s pricey. Yes, we spent over £100 on the tomahawk steak for two. But it was expected. You have a board where they tell you the sizes, and if you want one from there, you can see exactly what weight you’re getting. Normally it’s £11 per 100g, and at least when we went, the sharing steak was 1kg. Me and my daughter shared this, and they asked how we liked it cooked. I said medium rare, and they did mention they cook in a French style, so asking for medium is more like medium rare. Because of that, we changed our request, but it’s something to keep in mind. We also ordered mushroom and ribeye croquettes, which were lovely. We got two sides included, truffle fries and fat chips cooked in beef dripping, both of which were great. There was also a selection of sauces. We went for garlic butter and whisky teriyaki. I picked the teriyaki thinking I might not like it, but it was different and, well… it turned out to be lush. I’ll be honest, I didn’t use too much of either sauce because I didn’t want the steak to be masked, but there was so much meat that I was able to enjoy it both with and without sauce. My partner had a vegetarian dish. Yes, don’t worry, we are still together despite her choices. I’ve got to say though, it was lovely. Not for me, but the flavours were intense. It felt like extra flavour, with injections of more flavour, and then just to make sure there was enough, they somehow added even more. Honestly, it was very strong and very nice. As you can probably imagine, we didn’t have any dessert because we would have been rolling home. Instead, we did a very expensive and very full waddle. I’ll definitely be going again, but maybe when the funds are back up. Maybe I’ll sell some feet pics on OnlyFans. It’s great for a special occasion or if you just want to treat yourself. It’s definitely not an every-weekend thing, unless of course you have the money to do that. And if that’s the case, would you like a new best friend?
Our server was Bella and she is a credit to your team. Her knowledge of the food and drinks available was exceptional and she took the time to explain the cuts of meat and how best to have them cooked. She was friendly and personable and seemed to enjoy her job. Beef Bon Bon’s were incredible and the crispy chicken wings were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. We both had rib eye and it was perfectly cooked to our liking (medium rare). The Mac & cheese was hands down the best we’ve ever had and we’d come back just for that. The red wine paring was exceptional and the after dinner cocktails ended our night perfectly. My husband wasn’t able to manage a dessert which is unheard of. No other place has ever fully satisfied him with just the 2 courses. We were there to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday and it was time and money well spent. We have already recommended to friends and family.
2nd visit to Pasture and everything was perfect. The service was incredible from everyone we interacted with. The lovely woman at the host station provided me with a seperate menu for my allergy (one that isn't in the 14 major/common ones) and explained what I could have, either as it comes or modified and what I couldn't eat. Our server Matteo was lovely. He had great recommendations for cocktails (a lovely dill and lemongrass margarita), a bottle of red and deserts. He was always on hand to get us anything we need and would always be by to refill our water without us needing to ask. He was great at sorting what needed to be ordered with my allergy requirements and making small modifications to the dishes when we asked. Ordered a number of nibbles and starters, the real standout of which was the monkfish ceviche. Followed this with a 1.1kg Porterhouse. It was cooked to perfection and came with really excellent side dishes like the spinach gratin. Got some deserts and coffee afterwards which was all fantastic. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Will 100% be back for my 3rd time soon.
