One of the young lifeguard in charge is acting very important. The hairdryers are hanging far too low; only one is at a good height, but there's no way to plug in your own hairdryer. The toilets are from the 1960s. There are no keys for the lockers. Clean, okay by American standards. Not a place to relax. Swim quickly, get out quickly.
This is a very well run Pool with excellent staff. You wont find a better price to lap swim or family swim in San Francisco. It’s usually not too crowded and I have never had any problems finding street parking. There is no towel service, but thats really not an issue (don’t forget to bring a towel :) ). I have been to the YMCA which does offer towel service and i would still choose this facility every time (the pool is much nicer with a better atmosphere. The staff here are super attentive and very helpful. They truly make this a great place.
Nice pool, but lap swim schedule is terrible to follow and just random with short windows. Pool sits empty/underutilized a lot of time due to this. The pass pricing makes little sense... you don't really save much by buying 10. Maybe raise price of single session to make that more appealing. There is also never soap in the showers.
Three major flaws: 1. No towel service 2. Terrible hours 3. More expensive than a YMCA membership which gives you access to all the branches with multiple pools that have towel service and a full gym. Perhaps the one redeeming quality is you can drop in for $8
Pool's closing for remodeling ..July 1st..nice! It's been a wonderful go-to pool for 2 hr. Senior swims and when my kids were learning how to swim.. hopefully will continue to be organized and full of nice folks when it re- opens!
