My son picked this spot for his birthday dinner, craving that exciting Teppanyaki Gilbert AZ experience with the classic hibachi fire show he loves so much. They open at 5 P.M for dinner We arrived at 5:14 PM on his special day, hoping for a fun family-friendly dining adventure in Gilbert, Arizona. Shockingly, the place was nearly empty—maybe just six people seated total—yet the hostess immediately asked if we had a reservation. I've visited top Teppanyaki restaurants in Gilbert multiple times before without ever needing one for a small group, and there's nothing on their website or Google about requiring reservations when it's not busy. Another staff member checked the seating chart and confirmed no availability, mentioning they only had two chefs on duty. She suggested we return later with a reservation. I politely pointed out that this has never been an issue in my seven or eight previous visits unless for larger parties, and maybe they should update their site to inform folks about this policy for non-peak times in Gilbert hibachi spots. Her response? A smirk as she walked away, saying "Okay, I'll tell them. Bye." Being turned away from an empty restaurant during a birthday celebration in Gilbert AZ was beyond surprising—it's downright disappointing for anyone seeking reliable Japanese steakhouse service in the area. My little birthday boy was heartbroken and burst into tears, as this was his dream spot for Teppanyaki fun. It seems like short-staffing and poor scheduling are hindering what could be one of the best hibachi experiences in Gilbert, Arizona. If you're planning a family outing or special event at local Gilbert restaurants, double-check policies to avoid this letdown.

Great food and service! We went for our son's birthday and they made him feel special and acknowledged without being too loud and overdoing it. Their house made sauces (teriyaki and salad dressing especially) were delicious! We will definitely return!

This is the worst hibachi restaurantI've ever experienced. The person who answered the phone had a very unfriendly tone. They lied just to prevent us from sitting in the seats we wanted. As long as the two girls are friendly. If you don't mind their attitude, the food is still decent.

Oh, behave! Five of us strutted into Ryu Sushi & Teppanyaki in Gilbert, slid into the sit-down teppanyaki, and let me tell you—this place was shagadelic from start to finish. We kicked things off with the mushroom soup, and yeah, baby, it was smooth, warm, and mysterious… like a good spy should be. Proper tasty. Then—BOOM!—the Chef’s Specials came out swinging: juicy filet mignon, succulent shrimp, buttery lobster, perfectly cooked fried rice, and fresh veggies flying around the grill like they were on a secret mission. The chef was on fire—skills, flair, timing—absolutely smashing it. Every bite had us saying, “Yeahhhh, baby!” The food was hot, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The experience? Pure mojo. Great for a group, great vibes, and great eats. If you’re in Gilbert and want a teppanyaki night that’s international man of mystery–approved, Ryu is the place. Five stars. One love. Do I make you hungry, baby? 😎🍣🔥
