Our first swim lesson for my 27-month-old at SafeSplash (Crane Court, San Jose) was a disaster. We arrived at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Toddler Transition class, but no staff were present, and there were no obvious signs in the 24 Fitness gym when you enter the building. The gym’s front desk couldn’t help, and the SafeSplash phone rep didn’t know where the instructor was. The instructor, showed up at 9:55 AM and was unprepared for beginners, giving my daughter toys while focusing on other kids. The class was overcrowded (four kids instead of three), and one parent rudely tried to exclude us, making us feel unwelcome. The water was cold, and my daughter wanted to leave. The supervisor arrived later and offered a refund, she was understanding my frustration and she is a great person. Overall, disorganized, unprofessional, and unwelcoming swim school —I won’t return. Save your time and find a better swim school.
Ayla and Alvin have both gone above and beyond to accommodate our son's sensory and other sensitivities. They are both so knowledgeable, patient, and kind. We are so grateful our kid has such amazing people teaching him to swim!
Very unprofessional service. My daughter enrolled for the trial class 3 times but all the time it got cancelled. First time it got cancelled due to no chlorine in the water. Second time it got cancelled due to multiple instructor emergency. Third time, I got email Confirmation in the morning. My daughter reached to the pool but no one was there. We called them multiple times but no one picked the call and it went to the automatic recording message saying the center is closed. They did not even informed. My daughter was so excited all the time but she got disappointed. I don't think I can enroll her in this center.
The pool is cold, way too cold for my 13 month old. They offer classes for tots and parents but the instructors lack experience with young children. Babies have a very short attention span and need more FUN than full on instruction. Kick, kick, kick for 30 minutes will get boring for toddler by minute 5 to 8. During our swim class today my babies feet were blue 15 minutes in, lips were blue when class was over and chattering all over. I do not recommend this swim school for young toddlers. Not very safe when your child is freezing and screaming in discomfort in class. Most babies are very sensitive to temperature changes. The ratio of skin surface area to body weight is higher than that of an adult, so babies are more sensitive to water and even room temperatures than you are. If the water feels cold to you, it is definitely too cold for your little one. Cancelled my membership today. Please educate staff on temperature for small children or simply do not offer the option of toddler and parent if the pool can be kept at a safe temp for SMALL children.
We've had a great experience with this location! Our daughters have taken the Swim classes and the Swim Team (WAVE) classes. Management team and the instructors are great. Appreciate the flexibility they offer with the makeups, etc. The instructors are friendly, patient and encouraging. The Swim Team program laid a solid foundation for my older daughter - skill level and also attitude. She went onto be part of the Santa Clara Swim Team and just placed into Junior Varsity at her high school as a freshman. While its great that she was able to place at this level as a freshman, I think what's even more remarkable is that she had the courage to try out and put herself out there. The swim program here helped give her this confidence.
