I have been taking Japanese classes at SJLC for almost two years, all the way from level 1 to level 9. I took most of my classes with Ami sensei, who is a native speaker and clearly an expert in teaching Japanese. Ami sensei is knowledgeable, patient, and easily approachable. Her classes are well-paced and packed with numerous speaking and writing practices in addition to the textbook content. She also uses slides and media effectively to enhance her teaching, which adds a lot of fun to the classes. I've had such a great experience so far, and I can't wait to start the next level with Ami sensei!

I’ve had a wonderful experience with the Italian classes at San Jose Learning Center. The teacher is incredibly kind, supportive, and encouraging, creating a welcoming environment for learning. Lessons thoughtfully blend grammar instruction, cultural insights, and engaging conversation practice. I especially love the small, intimate online group setting. It makes participation easy and personal. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn Italian in a structured yet warm and supportive way!

I’ve reviewed San Jose Learning Center before, and will enthusiastically do it again! I’ve taken Thai classes with them (specifically Ann) since summer 2023, and have received quality instruction and support since day 1. Teacher Ann/ครูแอน always finds away to explain Thai grammar, pronunciation, cultural topics, and vocabulary in simple and relatable terms. She gets to know each of her students and sets high expectations, which she helps us meet. She even did an extra make up class with me to fine tune my pronunciation. She has able to figure out each student’s natural speaking register and provide a target plan to how we can speak correctly with the right tones. She’s also very responsive to our questions about homework outside of class, and seeks our input on what works best for our learning style. I also really appreciate how SJLC offers the option to attend online since I don’t live in CA anymore. I much prefer in person attendance, but they set up their courses well for online instruction. I would happily recommend anyone to take a language class at SJLC! I would take every language class if I could!

I just completed my second course in Thai (Level 2 Prime) with instructor Ann, and it’s been great. As a new learner of the Thai language, the course strikes the right balance of teaching the language holistically (reading/writing/listening/speaking) through functional situations. Though early lessons are focused on proper pronunciation, grammar, as well as vocabulary, instructor Ann keeps things interactive and fun. It should be noted that the class only meets once a week. So, there’s definitely an element of independent self study. That said, I would recommend the class to anyone who’s looking get a good introduction to Thai.

I've taken Japanese classes with Mari-san and she's really wonderful! Great listener, explains the language well, structured, plenty of teaching experience. She's relatable to everyone; we have really fun discussions. Because of her teaching, our group got to a point where we were all able to have a full Japanese conversations with each other: about our experiences, EN/JP differences in Pokemon names, or why Labubus are so expensive. She not only teaches fundamental Japanese, but also teaches useful Japanese not taught in textbooks/traditional classes. Would recommend her class 100%
