I’ve trained at Shaolin Wu Yi Institute for 11 years, since I was 4, and my experience had been amazing. Sifu Alschbach and all the instructors all kind, extremely knowledgeable, and love to teach and guide you as you learn Kung Fu. This school also has multiple Grand Champions and Gold Medalists at multiple Kung Fu tournaments around the nation, and many gold medalists in youth MMA and all ages submission grappling. Doing Kung Fu and competing in tournaments I have made so many memories and friends for life thanks to this school. If you are interested in learning how to fight, grapple, or learn the art of Kung Fu these are the best classes in Plano.

Nine years ago, I walked into Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute seeking physical exercise and basic self-defense skills. What I discovered was a transformative journey that has fundamentally reshaped not only my physical capabilities but my entire approach to life's challenges. The kung fu training at Shaolin Wu-Yi stands apart from other martial arts schools I explored before finding my home here. The instruction balances respect for tradition with practical application, creating an experience that feels both authentic and relevant. Forms are taught with meticulous attention to detail, yet always with clear explanations of their purpose and real-world applications. This complete approach has developed my understanding of movement principles that extend far beyond martial arts. What keeps me returning after nine years is the remarkable breadth of training available under one roof. The integration of yoga has dramatically improved my flexibility and body awareness, complementing the martial techniques in ways I never anticipated. The self-defense curriculum addresses realistic scenarios with effective, adaptable responses rather than rigid techniques that work only in controlled environments. This holistic approach ensures continuous growth without plateaus or stagnation. The instructors and coaches deserve special recognition for their exceptional teaching abilities. They possess not just technical mastery but the far rarer gift of communicating complex concepts in accessible ways. Their patient guidance has helped me overcome countless challenges, always pushing me to expand my capabilities while ensuring proper technique and safety. Their genuine investment in each student's progress creates an atmosphere where excellence is both expected and achievable. Perhaps most remarkable is how the principles learned at Shaolin Wu-Yi have influenced aspects of my life far removed from the training mat. The focus cultivated through kung fu practice has enhanced my academic performance. The mindfulness developed in yoga has improved my stress management. The problem-solving skills honed through martial applications have changed how I approach challenges in everyday situations. After nine years, I continue to discover new depths and dimensions to my training. What began as a simple fitness activity has evolved into a lifelong path of growth and self-discovery. For anyone seeking more than just exercise—a practice that develops body, mind, and spirit in equal measure—Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute offers a journey of transformation that only grows more rewarding with time.

I was impressed by the perfect balance of traditional martial arts instruction and effective modern training methods. The instructors are not only technically skilled but genuinely invested in each student's progress. If you're looking for authentic martial arts training in a welcoming environment, Shaolin Wu-Yi Institute is simply unmatched. It's more than just classes—it's a transformative experience that extends far beyond the mats.

We love this place. Sifu is so patient with the kids. He provides structure and achievable goals. Leos strength, confidence and emotional maturity have all grown since being here all these years. It is located in Plano and is a great kids martial arts class. Highly recommend it.

I was looking for a martial arts academy that could help my son Max have mental and physical discipline and I found this place, Sifu Alshbach, Sifu Geller, Sifu Denton and Sifu Walker were very good guides for my son. Unfortunately, after two years, my son left the academy and after 5 years, he decided to return and continue with the teachings that are still with him. I recommend them 100%.
