I have a highly reactive and sometimes aggressive American Pitt Bull mix. I went to them after he had been aggressive with others. They have worked with me and the dog to help socialize him. I plan on boarding with them, but so far, we have only utilized the Doggy Day Care portion of the program. Everyone has been extremely helpful and worked well with a dog that not everyone would be fond of working with. I have given them the highest review because with this particular difficult dog that I rescued, they've been willing/able to help me. I hope to bring my 2nd dog that is sweet and gentle and shy for boarding along with the more difficult devil boy.
I adopted my dog, Turtle, a while back when suddenly he started showing signs of reactivity towards dogs. He did not listen to simple commands and was unruly. I had a consultation at Sit Means Sit and knew I wanted to work with them ASAP. Training is worth every penny, but it is expensive. That’s why I am so grateful SMS allowed me to utilize a payment plan that fit my budget in order to get my dog the training we desperately needed. It only took 2 sessions to see a difference in Turtle’s obedience and understanding. We had private sessions then I practiced with him at home for about 10-15 mins per day until our next session so that we were able to work on more challenging commands. Turtle and I are much happier now. I also use SMS for boarding and when I pick Turtle up, his behavior and temperament is always better than when I dropped him off. I can’t recommend SMS and our trainer Abby enough. We can walk and even go to the dog park without having to worry about reactivity. Thank you guys so much!
Not sure where to begin ... I've always had a dog with me. My last dog was a Lab that I got at 8 weeks old. I trained and raised him to be a good-mannered dog. After 8 years he contracted cancer and we had to put him down. I didn't want another dog for a good while, but I had an opportunity to save a pittie mix from a kill shelter. It was obvious from the start that she was mistreated. She feared everything and everyone, from car doors closing to the ceiling fan being on. I was over my head, I've never adopted an adult dog before and she clearly had issues that I didn't know how to overcome. After doing my research, I contacted 3 dog trainers. 2 just threw prices at me and Sit Means Sit was only one who invited me to stop by for an evaluation. Obviously, we went with Sit Means Sit. They evaluated our dog, asked questions and listened to our concerns. I was impressed with Abby and Terra. Within a week, we saw the change with our dog and at the end of training her leash skills, recall and commands improved as well as her confidence. Very satisfied with SMS. We still take her now for daycare and will continue to do so. Totally recommend SMS. oh, and she loves the staff and gets excited every time we go back.
My husband and I agree that we have learned as much as our pups in the training. It has been an amazing experience that has allowed us to enjoy and control our dogs in many environments. Abbey is a thoughtful trainer who is flexible in her methods to work with many dog personalities!
This team is great and very helpful. I am glad I took my girl in for training. The biggest benefit for me and my girl was their help for me to create consistency in how I lead her. I'm still working on it. They're post training events are really helpful too. They were able to help me control her tendency to think small dogs were toys and attempting to protect me when there wasn't a threat. She now knows some new commands beyond the basics. I would definitely recommend them. I had to get used to the collar. They helped me understand how to effectively use it.
