Gwendolyn always takes her time to assess what my hair needs to be at its best. Each time I sit in her chair, I feel excited to talk about my hair and how she is going to style it. Gwendolyn is easy to talk to and does great work. I have seen her for many cuts, and some color work. I also love my time in the Smoke + Mirrors space. Each person is kind and caring in their approach to the role. It is also very comfortable and cool.

Update: after posting this review, the salon did reach out to me and the owner, Leah, offered to fix my hair herself, for free. She was very kind and professional. I do enjoy the way my hair looks much more now. The experience was similar to what I had had prior to the haircut I received that led me to posting this review. Original post: I enjoyed coming here prior to Katie moving. On my last haircut, I booked an appointment with Sunshine. Unfortunately, I left feeling very disappointed. I showed pictures of my prior haircut, asking for the same style on my bangs and face framing pieces. My bangs were cut without considering the length they would be once styled. So, my bangs were too short. Worse than that, my bangs were not even across my forehead AND on the left side there was randomly a piece cut much shorter than the rest. I also felt that my hair wasn’t actually styled leaving the salon. It was very flat all over, especially my bangs, unlike when I’ve gotten blowouts in the past. I called the salon asking if another stylist could fix my hair. They said the only solution they could offer is for Sunshine to cut again. I told them I wasn’t comfortable with this because I feel like this mistake should not have happened in the first place. The salon reinforced that I would have to pay full price for a cut with any other stylist to fix my hair. Ultimately, I had to style my bangs in ways that would hide them for a few weeks before fixing them myself at home.

Sunshine was absolutely phenomenal. She took the time to clearly explain every step of what she was doing throughout the entire appointment, which made me feel confident and comfortable the whole time. Her knowledge, attention to detail, and passion truly showed in her work. My hair turned out beyond amazing, exactly what I wanted, if not better. I couldn’t be happier and highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional results and an incredible experience. The receptionist was also extremely nice and the refreshments were amazing

i loved my experience!!! gwendolyn did a fantastic job with my hair. i've kept my hair long for the last 2-3 years so i could have my hair long for my wedding. now that the wedding celebration is done, im so happy to go back to my bob era!!! gwen did a great job at taking the extra weight/volume off the bottom to prevent my hair from looking "puffy." she had great input and skills. it's the perfect length, and i feel like myself again :)

I tried Smoke & Mirrors for the first time and had my haircut done by Danika, and I’m absolutely obsessed! I was nervous to try a new stylist, but she blew away my expectations. I showed her inspiration photos and even mentioned I wanted the razor cutting technique, and she nailed it perfectly. My hair feels light, bouncy, and beautifully layered. I’ve gotten compliments nonstop since I left the salon! Danika has such a warm and fun personality, and her pricing is very reasonable for the quality of work she delivers. I’ve officially found my stylist for life. Thank you for making me feel like a brand new person!
