We stayed here for one night. It was a beautiful charming, peaceful place. The garden area is like something out of a movie, absolutely beautiful 😍. The pool area is beautiful. The house is historic and beautiful. It was like a step back in time but It had wifi and tv and all that. Breakfast was made fresh for us the next morning, it was warm and inviting. It reminded me of spending the night at my grandma's kind of. We met one of the owners and she was so sweet. We really enjoyed visiting with her. Location was great, it was a couple miles from Moody center which was perfect and not far from an In N Out which was great. It was nice to find a place thats not all hustle and bustle but close to everything we needed in a clean kept neighborhood. Highly recommended for older teens and adults. They have their own parking too. And there is fireflies at night time! My older teenage son enjoyed it because it was different and quiet and felt historic. Service was amazing and personal, something you won't find at an Airbnb or hotel. This is a perfect place to get away and unwind!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Strickland Arms Bed and Breakfast. The outdoor spaces felt like a hidden garden, peaceful and full of charm. Breakfast was delicious and made fresh each morning by Sandy, who was kind and accommodating. The Stricklands were lovely hosts who made us feel completely at home. We highly recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing and welcoming place to stay
This was a wonderful find! We came into Austin at the last minute and needed a place for one night. We decide not to go with a cookie-cutter hotel or an Air BNB that often adds extra charges. What we found at the Strickland Arms was a magnificent old home that was incredibly decorated and well-run. The room was like stepping back in time, but with modern amenities. The Stricklands were fantastic hosts. Everything was ready for us when we arrived, we quickly coordinated via texting when we got there, and the breakfast the next day was sumptuous, including homemade biscuits you can't get at a breakfast bar in a hotel. We'll also add that, coming from Dallas, it was nice to stop in north Austin and not having to add an extra 30 - 45 minutes inching through traffic to get to the south side. We'll definitely stay there again!
College friends spent a reunion weekend together in conjunction with the Texas Book Festival, and had a lovely stay at Strickland Arms. This was a relaxed and relaxing bed and breakfast in a beautiful Austin mansion. Our hosts were helpful, gracious, and accommodating as well. It’s not a hotel, and there are stairs involved, but hands down, we would recommend the Strickland, and would love to plan a return trip.
This location is perfect. It is in a quiet neighborhood and I felt safe. Off-street parking surrounded by shade trees was lovely. The grounds are amazing with gorgeous statues, a fountain, and pool. The front and back porches have plenty of space and separate seating areas. As others have mentioned, breakfasts weren't over the top as they were in the other B&Bs I visited this trip. A warm breakfast is served at 9am. Since I needed to explore the Austin area, I didn't want to wait until 9. I grabbed pastries, fruit and coffee and hit the tourism road. The place is in need of some updating and organization.
