I’m not sure what’s going on at SweatBox. I’ve been a member for 3 years. In that time it feels like things have stopped being looked after. Weights and benches looking tired. Cable machines unmaintained or out of order on a regular basis. Changing rooms and toilets can leave a lot to be desired. Maybe they are just seeing out their time until Whitehouse st development. But it’s sad to see.
I went to the Monday boxing class with a friend and it was so much fun! We were both new to boxing and didn't know what to expect but we were welcomed by the loveliest people and explained what we need to do and how the session will go and all the nerves disappeared. After a fun warm up, we were separated from those that were more experienced and shown the boxing stances and techniques and got to practice with the support of a coach. It was great to get 1 on 1 support when we didn't know anything before getting to pair up and practice what we learned. It was such good atmosphere and I will definitely be coming back. Thanks to John and the other coaches for being so welcoming and supportive :)
Attended the beginners boxing class on Monday evening with a friend, was very nervous but it was so welcoming, loads of 1-1 time, amazing instructors, everyone was so friendly and supportive! Will definitely be returning, a really inspiring class, thanks John and the team 🩷🥊
Really friendly gym with great equipment. I’ve found some gyms feel competitive and unwelcoming, this is the opposite. There is a great calisthenics areas including a rope and lots of free weights.
I’ve been training mainly BJJ at Sweatbox Gym and couldn’t recommend it more highly. The team of instructors is excellent – Pedro Bessa is truly one of a kind, and Tom and Emi are fantastic coaches as well. Their teaching style is clear, supportive, and motivating, which makes every session both challenging and enjoyable. What really sets Sweatbox apart is the community. From day one, I felt welcomed and included. Everyone is supportive of each other’s progress, and it’s easy to make friends while training here. That sense of encouragement and camaraderie makes a huge difference and keeps you looking forward to coming back. On top of that, the gym itself has everything you need: well-equipped, clean, and a great atmosphere to train in. If you’re thinking about starting BJJ (or any of the other classes offered), Sweatbox is the place to go. Top-quality instruction, a welcoming environment, and a brilliant community.

Where fitness meets community – train hard, feel welcome.
