Amazing Bar Experience & Outstanding Service We sat at the bar at The Arrogant Butcher in downtown Phoenix, and the bar area was really nice. Sandy, our server, was incredible—super knowledgeable and helped us pick the perfect drinks. The margaritas were the best I’ve ever had, especially with their house-made syrups. Food highlights: the House-Made Pretzels with Provolone Fondue, Crispy Brussels Sprouts,(samples) and Crispy Shrimp—all must-tries. We also ordered the New York Strip, Buttered Green Beans(not pictured), and Oysters on the Half Shell. The steak was a little dry based on how it was ordered, but the oysters were excellent, especially after the chef gave us a perfect do-over. The green sauce was incredible. The manager was great—she checked on us throughout the night to make sure everything was up to par, which really elevated the experience. The two ladies in the kitchen were also wonderful and made our visit even more memorable. If you have room, don’t skip the Mascarpone Cheesecake. Amazing food, great service, and absolutely worth the money. I’ll definitely be back!
Who staying at the Hilton Garden on Monroe and asked for suggestions on a great place for dinner. The arrogant chef is one of the two suggestions that they made. It was only a few blocks away, so I decided to walk because the weather was gorgeous. They were very busy when I arrived. I didn’t have a reservation, but thankfully, as I was by myself, they had a spot in one of the chefs seats, overlooking the kitchen. I’ve always wanted to have that experience and this really was a fantastic opportunity. The servers name was Stephanie and she was super nice. I asked for suggestions on the menu which she happily shared. I started off with some oysters from Baja California, which were absolutely delicious. I took some of her advice and got the fillet with the red wine reduction and the fried shallots on top. On a whim, I decided on the sweet potatoes rather than the french fries with truffle aïoli. I couldn’t have been happier. One of the best side dishes I’ve ever had. Although the steak was perfectly tender and perfectly cooked, I can’t help but feel that the single best thing was the sweet potatoes. The texture was phenomenal. Crunchy on the outside and dense on the inside. Corners were chewy in a nice way. They were seasoned perfectly and absolutely delicious. One of those dishes that you’d like to find a way to re-create on your own. I wish I knew the secret! I’m very happy that I decided to take a chance and try the restaurant and specifically the sweet potatoes. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed I’m certain. Ps If you have the chance, the other thing that you should try on the menu is the brussels sprouts. Although I didn’t have them, I got to watch them, be prepared for my seat, and they looked phenomenal, out of this world! And I had anyone to share them with, I would’ve ordered some as a side and shared them just to have the opportunity to try them. I guess there’s always tomorrow night!
It was our first visit and we discovered while there that this is the sister restaurant to The Culinary Dropout. Several of the menu items were very similar to Culinary Dropout. Our experience was great. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were told it is a from scratch kitchen, which we love. We ordered the wings, Mac n cheese and split a burger. The server had it brought out to us already split, which was nice. We sat outside on the patio as the weather was perfect. We definitely recommend giving The Arrogant Butcher a try.
Great atmosphere, great food. I ordered the Kumiai Oysters l, my first time having west coast oysters. They were delicious! I really enjoyed the jalapeño Mignonette! It complimented the oysters well. For my meal, I had the jambalaya. As a certified Cajun myself, I was very impressed with their take on jambalaya. It had all the staples in it: rice, okra, chicken, sausage, shrimp, etc. for being thousands of miles away from Louisiana, they did well! Service was amazing here. Server had great knowledge of the menu and could give real world suggestions based on his tastes. Well done! Would definitely come back.
I have been here a handful of times and I will say this past weekend was very underwhelming. To start, it was a little difficult to add 3 more people to the reservation to make it 10 people total so we went a little earlier at 5:30 PM. But we walked into the restaurant, and there was a gazillion tables empty. They would not seat us until at least half of our party was there so got a quick drink at the bar.to wait. Again, it was not very busy so easy to grab seats at the bar They did take us to the back right more private room, which was nice and where I sat last time. Ambience and vibe is nice! My girlfriend was not happy with her truffle fries, the wings and tuna were just OK. Very disappointed in the crispy shrimp, they were just like popcorn shrimp with an aïoli on the side. Very basic - not worth $18 for sure! Came with 1 Shishito Pepper. Two friends that were with us are gluten-free and they were all out of the sea, bass which they both really wanted (Saturday at 6 pm by the time we ordered) so she got the salmon and it was just plain, nothing to write home about. I’ve had better salmon that I cooked at home. I remember my meal last time being amazing so it was very disappointing. 4 stars is probably too generous
